Learning the truth

# Salena woke-up the next evening covered in sweat, terrified, and screaming. She had a dream about the night her mother died for the first time in since she was sixteen, but this time it was different. It was more detailed but that wasn't what shocked Salena awake. No, it was the fact that this time Poison Eye was there and that he was one of the men that jumped on her and stabbed her that scared her so much. Volk ran in with worry written all over his face and grabbed her. Rubbing her back in a soothing matter. "What's wrong, love? Tell me what happened." He cooed in a soothing tone like one a father would use with a child that had woken up from a nightmare and Salena broke down and told him everything. "When I was roughly ten years old, I was walking home alone from the park in Kokomo, Indiana, when I stumbled upon my mother lying dead behind the bank. She had a stake in her chest, just lying there in a puddle of her own blood. As I started to run and try to find some kind of help, five men jumped on me and attacked me with knives and their teeth. When I woke up, I was told by the man, who since then raised me, that is was vampires and they changed me that night. Ever since then I trained to kill and hate anything supernatural until I met you. I just dreamt of that night and in the dream one of the men that attacked me was the very man that raised me." "I don't think that it was vampires that attacked you." "Why do you say that?" "For one, your blood is pure therefore you were born not changed." "H... How do you know?" "I can smell it, remember. Secondly, vampires have no need for weapons such as knives."  "Hmm. Ok, you got a point." "Either way, I swear to you, I will find out the truth for you." William vowed and then headed out of the room to get started on finding out the truth. Volk called up all the private detectives he knew that owed him a favor telling them he is cashing in on his favor by them finding out anything they could about a murder or attack in Kokomo, Indiana roughly eleven years earlier. In the meantime, he spent every spare moment he could researching that and Salena spent what she could planning the wedding, as well as dragging Volk along with her for taste-testing, design picking, interviews with venues and caterers and other things of that nature. They decided to keep it simple and elegant at the Hotel Le Marais with their elopement package that covers everything for one set price. With that decided on, it took them a full two months to get everything ready and the night before the wedding, Salena and Volk was at the venue making sure everything was up to the bride's standards when an unexpected guest decided to make an appearance. After watching the bride fuss for the millionth time over placements and the groom try to calm her qualms for the umpteenth hundredth time Poison Eye had had enough lurking in the shadows and cleared his throat. And to be sure it was known he was there he said, "Well, congratulations. But I must say, I am a bit disappointed in your Blood Rose. Not only did you forget to tell the man who raised you that you were engaged but you disobeyed a direct order from your elders and began fraternizing with the enemy or should I say, your prey." "Don't listen to him Salena, if anyone is the enemy, it is him." Volk shouted as he finally handed her the envelope of what he had found out. She quickly opened it and as she scanned over it, her eyes began to fill with tears. "What do you mean, young man? How am I her enemy? I saved her as a child and raised the ungrateful Whelp into the woman you see today." "No, you killed her mother, caused her to be attacked and tricked her. I have the proof right her and cameras don't lie." Volk said. "I, however, love her and will protect and cherish her until death do us part." "You little..." poison eye began before Salena looked up at him. "Stop!" she said before she took a deep breath. "Is its true Poison? Did you lie to me? Tell me the truth." "Yes, it's true. It's all true. Hellsing ordered me to wipe out your family but after seeing how innocent you truly were, I couldn't kill you so instead I convinced him to let me take you in." He said, his face falling as his shoulders slumped. "I'm sorry for lying to you." "So, let me get this straight. First you took the only parent I ever knew away, then you stole my identity from me and now you're trying to steal my mate from me?" His silence was all that Salena and Volk needed. Volk was ready to tear him apart but as if knowing, Salena placed her hand on his chest. "No, leave him be. He may have hurt me deeply with his lies, but he still raised me." she said before turning back to Poison eye, "I suggest you go, 'father' before I change my mind and allow him to rip you to shreds like he wants." As Salena turned away, a sign that she was finished with the conversation, Poison eye smirked and made a 'tusking' sound. "How many times have I told you darling, never turn your back on your opponent?" he said before hitting her with a vase on the head, hard enough to shatter it and with enough force that any normal person would be dead. Luckily, Salena was not normal. Salena's eyes grew heavy and as they closed Volk growled and lunged at where Poison eye was standing but the tricky hunter had already disappeared. In his place was a letter. Volk, uncaring about the letter, ran to Salena's side. Worried about his mate, he picked her up and carried her bridal style to the hotel they were staying in. In the meantime, Jackson, Volk's best man, noticed the letter. He picked it up and out of curiosity, he read it. Dear Salena, I'm sorry for everything I have done to you. If you are reading this, then it is likely you somehow found out what I have done and if I didn't hand this directly to you, then I have done yet another stupid thing. First off, let me start by explaining that I am proud of you and that I want you to follow your heart. I should have taken this bit of advice when I met your mother, but I was stupid then and blindly followed the order. Second, let me explain myself and finally tell you the truth. The whole truth. I met your mother before you were born, and I had fallen so deeply in love with her that one night I made love to her. After finding out about this, I was ordered to stay away from your mother until the order found out about you and then I was ordered to kill both of you. Of course, at the time I didn't know who you were, and I was told she cheated on me to have you. I was hurt and angry, so I killed her. After seeing you, I just knew you was my daughter, so I couldn't kill you. In order to keep you, however, the order made me lie to you. I know it was wrong, I'm sorry. I'm sorry I abandoned you and your mother. I'm sorry I killed your mother. I'm sorry I lied to you, And I'm sorry for anything else I may have done or will do to hurt you. Thirdly, I'm leaving the order and I want you to know if they kill me, I love you and understand if you can't forgive everything I've done. Sincerely, Your Dad James Packolk, Poison Eye P.S. I understand if you can't forgive me. I doubt I will ever forgive myself. Jackson gulped and, not knowing what to do, folded up the letter and placed it in his coat pocket before walking inside to his suite for the night. He decided that he would wait until the next day to tell Volk and allow him to decide the best way to tell Salena the news.
