Impossible Mission

# A month later, everyone in Volk's mansion was preparing for the going away party while Salena was locked in the bathroom texting Poison Eye her updates. "Yes, I think the leader, Volk, is falling for me." "OK, just don't get to attached. You may have to dispatch him in the future." "Don't worry, I know what my job and my mission is. Mission is life." "Good, now go, they may get suspicious." After they was done texting back and forth, Salena deleted the messages and proceeded to finish getting ready for the party. She decided to wear a long golden, silk dress and matching heels. She put her long black hair up into a messy bun and hair sprayed it into that position. Then she gave herself smokey cat eyes with black, gold, and green eyeshadow and red lips. Finally, she was ready and went out to the back to find everyone. "Hey Michael, have you seen Volk anywhere?" she asked when she spotted the little boy near the snacks table. "You're starting to like him aren't you. You like him more than me don't you. That's not far! It's because he's older than me isn't it?" said the little ten-year-old with his red hair bobbing around in anger. "Oh, hush, what kind of nonsense is this? Of, course it's not that! You're still my best and cutest little buddy here Michael." Salena said just as Volk came up. "Oh, he is, Is he? Well, then I will have to do something about his cuteness won’t I?" William said in a mock dark voice causing Salena to place her hand over her heart and feign terror. "Oh, please no, Mi' Lord. He is but a child." "To bad, 'tis your words that caused this." With that, Salena giggled and, after spinning on her heels, took off running in the other direction just to be tripped by an angry looking brunette.  "Watch where you're going, scum!" Salena straightened herself up and glared at the woman, "who do you think you are, talking to me like that?" Salena asked the woman. With a scoff, she replied, "I'm Misty, Volk's girlfriend." "Oh, really? That's funny because last I checked, Volk has no girlfriend, Misty, and he is interested in me." Salena replied with a smirk causing Misty to get even more angry. As Misty reared her hand back to swing at Salena, Volk seemingly appeared out of nowhere and grabbed her hand. "Misty, I am warning you now, if you so much as lay one finger on my future bride, I will have you torn limb from limb or skinned alive. Deepening on which she allows." Volk stated and when everyone gasped, he nodded and continued, "That's right. I fully intend on not only making Salena mine but taking her as my bride and if anyone has a problem with it, their fate is in her hands. So, if I was y'all, I would make Salena my friend, not my enemy." He then, released Misty's hand and turned away but his word only angered Misty even more for the very next second she screamed, "You slutty b***h! You stole him from me!" and then growled as she slung a fist right at Salena's face. Which was no longer smiling. Salena used her enhanced speed to grab the hand before it connected as her usually blue eyes flashed red and her fangs protruded. "What did you just call me? You know what, don't answer that mutt. Unless you want to end up running home without your tail to tuck between your legs." She practically growled as she twisted the other woman's wrist painfully causing Misty to let out a yelp of pain. Volk growled as he turned around and Salena let go of Misty's hand who also let out a growl as she began to change into a wolf. "ENOUGH!" he shouted as Misty as a wolf stood in front of Salena growling. Turtle and Denis both came forward and grabbed Misty by the throat. "Throw her in the dungeon until I say otherwise," Volk said and then he shook his head before running off to the surrounding woods. With a sigh, Salena took off after him to make sure he was ok. However, she lost him almost as quickly as he took off. After about twenty minutes, however, she finally caught back up with him but the being standing in front of her, didn’t look like Volk. In fact, the creatures skin looked burnt with lava-like veins flowing on its body, black eyes that had white pupils, Fire for hair and wings made of brimstone and flames. "V... Volk?" "You shouldn't have followed me Salena. I didn't want you to see me like this." Said Volk. "And why not? I think this you are just as cute as your human form." She replied causing him to calm down which was notable as the flames started to dwindle and die. "Y... You think that I.... I am cute?" "Yes." With her admittance, Volk calmed down enough to go back to his human form then grabbed Salena and pulled her into a bone crushing, breathtaking kiss that made the world stop spinning and everyone in it disappear. "Salena, please be with me." "I thought I already was." "I. I just didn't know after what just happened with Misty and everything she was saying, I had no idea if you still wanted to be with me." "I don't care about that, that was your past not your present nor your future." "Oh...ok." "What exactly are you, William, if you don't mind me asking?" "I'm what you would call a fallen or a hybrid of the fallen type." "Ah, that explains the brimstone." With that, the couple walked back to the party hand in hand with the world’s biggest and brightest grins on their faces. The rest of the party went off without a hitch and the rest of the day seemed like they was determined to get as drunk as they could and have as much fun as they could, even if that meant they would demolish Miami in the midst of doing so. The next morning, the group packed all the stuff that they believed they would need and caught the first plane from Miami to Louisiana where their futures seemed bright and joyful. They all seemed like a family now and Salena finally felt like she belonged somewhere. They moved to New Orleans, Louisiana, more precisely in one of the balcony apartments overlooking Bourbon street, and after the chaos of moving and unpacking ended, everything was going fine. In fact, every night was a party, they never failed to find something to celebrate. That was until one night three years later when Salena got a phone call that could very well break her thawed out heart. # Earlier that day, Salena was just waking up when Volk told her to meet him downstairs in ten minutes, so she did. When she got downstairs, he was on one knee holding out her favorite flowers, red carnations, and a box. As her eyes filled with tears, a smile broke out on her face and she screamed, "Yes!" but their happiness was cut short when she received a text message. With the excuse of needing to freshen up and change before they celebrated, she excused herself to the bathroom and read the message. "I hope you haven't grown too fond of Volk; the council wants you to take him out." As she typed back, "Mission received," her heart dropped. She had no idea how she would possibly be able to follow through with the mission without sentencing herself to an eternity of heartache, but she knew that if she didn’t, she would become the only family she had ever really known's enemy. After calming her racing heart down and changing into a long black sweetheart gown with a slit up the left side and a red hood paired with a pair of black flats, she stepped out of the bathroom and grabbed her purse that she kept a gun in. Unknowingly to her new "family" the gun had bullets specially made to kill any creature that is considered damned. The couple decided to go to the river walk and sit on a bench near Jackson's Brewery and look out over the Mississippi river for a little bit. Salena knew this would be the perfect time but she was hesitant as she was fighting herself to decide if she should or not. Suddenly the wind blew Volk's hair into his face and he turned to Salena. "Salena, don't worry, I already know about who you really are and what you were told to do. Go ahead. I mean if I must die at least I know that you said yes and would have married me, if fate wasn't so cruel. And, hey, at least I got to meet my mate. Some people die before that ever happens. Plus, at least I would know you're safe still." With that, Salena dropped the gun and began sobbing. "I... I can't. They will haunt us both now because I can't kill you. I love you and I can't go on without you. I would rather die than go even one more millisecond without you in my life. Even if that means that I must change sides. I know now who the real monsters are." "I don't care Salena, I love you, too, and I know you love me. We will make this work somehow and we will find a way for both of us to be able to protect each other." Volk declared causing Salena to smile through her tears. "You're right. We can do this." Salena whispered softly and picked the gun back up. Then she proceeded to get up and walk over to the river's edge with her head held high. Upon reaching the edge, she tossed her phone and the gun into the river and the couple walked to the nearest phone store and bought her a new phone before heading back to the warmth of their home for the night.
