WITH JED OUT looking for leads to our suspected culprit, I spent the afternoon packing up samples to send back to Atlanta. The field lab was well-equipped, considering it was in the middle of the desert, but there was a lot it didn’t have. I couldn’t wait to get home myself and see some of these slides under an electron microscope.
I said home like I actually had one. I’d have to go back to Galveston for now because of my research, but once I’d finished my thesis? Now Lottie wasn’t at Bayview, I could move if I wanted to. But where to?
