LENA’S POV Who’s a liar? A liar is someone who deliberately tells falsehoods, misleads others, or conceals the truth for their own personal gain. But a really good liar is someone who can hide the truth in plain sight. I was born with the ability to sense lies, but I didn’t realize just how “unique” this trait was until I grew older. As a child, I’d often call out adults for their dishonesty, which got me into a lot of trouble. My mother thought I was just intuitive. But my father thought it was an inconvenience. Put I couldn’t do anything about myself. This ability was a natural part of who I was, but it also isolated me. Constantly knowing when people are lying can make it hard to trust anyone.
