I can't believe I get to work here. My office is small and secluded at the corner, but on the same floor as Adrian's. I have been sitting on my desk for two hours without any sort of direction. I start scribbling on my notebook and I get lost in it, trying to outline Adrian's book, from all the details I found online. "I can't decide whether to put you here or at the center of the lobby," Adrian's voice startles me from my flow. He is standing at the doorway, leaning over. "What?" I ask, nervously. He doesn't answer, staring at me. I guess I'll have to get used to those eyes if I am going to be spending a lot of time with him. He walks in and grabs the notebook. "Hey!" I resist He ruffles through the pages. "Whoa, Adrian's ex-girlfriends, Adrian's leadership direction, Adrian's addic..." he reads through my notes and stops suddenly. His face sours and he places the notebook back on the table. "Get your things and follow me," he orders, and is out of the office in a second. I get my notebook and my purse and rush to follow him. I can tell something in my notebook didn't sit well with him. He is already inside his office when I finally catch up with him. "I have to cover every basis on this..." I start, "I need you to sit in my next meeting," he says coldly. I breathe heavily. I want to explain, but he doesn't give me a chance. "You know, we can just talk about the addiction..." I say. "Listen in, take note of everything..." "Can you just stop!" I say, frustrated. "Oh my gosh, stop interrupting me?" He looks up at me, for the first time since we walked into the office. "The meeting starts in five," he says, completely ignoring me "No," I say "What do you mean, no? Sit in, for the meeting and..." "And what? This is my interview, and I get to decide where to start, if you..." I start arguing He stands up angrily and walks towards me. He stands right in front of me, towering over me. He breathes heavily, staring me down angrily. I can't look away, his eyes drawing me in, and for some reason, my eyes fixate on his lips. He doesn't look and neither do I. His breath falls on me, sending shivers down my spine. I try to say something but nothing comes out, my loud beating heart being the only sound I hear. The doors opens suddenly and Elisa walks in. "Mr Thornwood, the executives have arrived," she says, her face turns to shock when she sees us. I take a step back from Adrian and try to get myself together. Adrian, however, is calm. Unfazed. He turns towards Elisa and smiles. "Thank you, Elisa. Show them in." he says. "Yes, of course." she says. Adrian walks back to his seat behind the desk. "And get us some coffee. For Ms Grace too, she'll be joining us." he adds Elisa glances at me in surprise. She looks confused for a moment. I can tell she wants to say something, but before she does, Adrian speaks. "That's all Elisa," he says. Elisa turns and leaves. "I don't think I should be in the meeting. I mean it's the company's meetings and I..." I say "And you're writing about the company." he says. We stare at each other for a moment. He gestures towards the couch with his head, and like instructed, I sit on the couch, my notebook in hand, ready for the meeting. I cross my legs, and my skirt slides up exposing my thighs. I turn to him and find him staring at me. "Well, that shouldn't be distracting at all," he says
