Righteous Anger

1138 Words
"Where is the duke?" Eleanor asked coldly She ignored the hesitant stares and got straight to the point. She looked at him impatiently and asked in a distant manner. It wasn't exactly polite, more like an order of a superior who was looking down on someone. It was a cold demand, a domineering one. The one in question stood there, unmoving, refusing to speak.   Right now, Eleanor was questioning Duke Aiden's aid, probing him for the whereabouts of the missionary meant to escort her during her travels. She gritted her teeth. After all the trouble she had taken to have him escort her. But, who would have expected? The man just up and disappeared, leaving Eleanor in a troubling situation. "i am sorry for this inconvenience, but I cannot tell you. It is the Duke order. Please, just wait for him." Johannes didn't care. Their arrogant princess was used to having her own way, and treated everyone as if they were beneath her. It was annoying, to boot.  "How dare you? Do you know who you are talking to?"  "..................." "You still refuse to talk , huh?" "Your highness!!" Light footsteps approached the little group and a small voice was heard from a distance. It was the attendant that Eleanor had sent ahead of time. Eleanor was glad that she had come quite early. This maid was quite efficient, after all.  "The-the duke is in that woman's room."  "A job very well done Layla."  "It's my pleasure," she bowed courteously. At that point, the princess smiled quite distantly, turned on her heel and rushed towards the palace, hoping she would be on time. After all, that man was not to be underestimated. She clenched her teeth. She had to do something. When she arrived at the location, she found something strange. The small whispers that were here and there were turning into noisy gossip. When El heard them, she turned angry and rushed up to them. “What are you doing standing around? Get back to work,” Everyone gasped. They had never seen her become so unhappy. But, obviously there was a reason. The foreign princess was known for her polite and discreet manner to all, regardless of status. It was to such an extent that others pretty much thought she was a total pushover. But, it was obviously a mask. A mask to let others put down their guard. But, at this point, she didn’t care anymore. In fact, to hell with the pretence. After all, she had to protect that woman. For her plan. “You there, tell me, what is going on?” Once Citrus was questioned, she bit her lip and trembled. She had usually always gone unnoticed, but somehow, she had attracted the attention of a princess. So, without any hesitation, she said, “It seems as though there is a person, a man, with the lady. He ha-“ She was cut off with a sharp glare from Eleanor. It was like she knew that if she spoke any more, her head would most likely not be attached to shoulders anymore. Although she a servant, she knew when to take a step back. “Let’s go, Marcus. It looks we are urgently needed somewhere.” “Yes, understood.” When Marcus, Eleanor’s personal knight opened the doors, even he grew flustered. When she saw how even her stone-face Marcus was acting like that, she had a bad feeling. When she looked through the door that was being opened, she wished she could just………………. go kill herself. But, who else could she blame but herself? She knew this would happen at some point. Inside, lay a completely entangled Cora and a certain duke. They were wrestling for dominance, but surprisingly it was Cora who had the upper hand. El smirked. She was glad she had chosen the right person. So, she decided to stop this little ‘fight’ now. “Enough, Cora. Are you going to continue?” When Cora heard that voice, she gulped. This was the last person she wanted here. Timing their reactions, Eleanor took action. She moved her fingertips, and small wisps of silver white sparkles came out. They were a pretty colour as well as pretty useful. When she saw the slight c***k in Aiden’s usual smiling face, she became satisfied. She had never liked the man. Still, she considered his reputation. He should be feeling happy that she hadn’t grabbed him by the collar herself to punch the crap out of him right then and there. “E-El, why are you here?” Cora’s nervousness was growing by the second. Cora also knew that she might suspect a brief fling between them. So, rather making sure that the misunderstanding grew, she decided to nip it in the bud. “It’s not li-“ “I know. You are not that sort of person.” Eleanor replied. She was surprisingly trusting. But, she had her reasons. “in fact, it is this guy who is the problem here. The root of all evil, Duke Aiden Ecklair. He is one hell of a package, so I apologise for the inconvenience he has caused you.” Eleanor did a slight curtsy as a form of apology and shot her eyes straight. It was clear as day that it was aimed at a certain person- no, a creature behind Cora.   “Will you perhaps get up yourself, or do I have to do those honours as well?” El asked, sarcasm dripping from her tone. Cora flinched slightly, but not enough for the other two to detect it.   “You sadden with these words, princess.” Cora turned around. She had a feeling that he shouldn’t be spouting such crap right now. However, Aiden didn’t know what she was thinking, and continued without bothering to read the mood. “How could you harbour such insults against me? I am a man second to the emperor, yet you say such foul words. It truly is a pity you are a royal member.”   That right there, is a death penalty, Cora thought, but was startled when she noticed the bubbling yet suppressed glare that was literally shooting fire from her eyes. She had to do something, or this place would be done for.   “Alright now, I think we can talk this out peacefully-“   “How did that geezer manage to give birth to som-“ he wasn’t stopping. Cora was growing flustered by the second. But, it looked like her worry wasn't needed. Because, that was the last string for the princess.  “Shut the fu*k up, you trash.”
