Chapter 14

720 Words
“So he wants you to trap with the marriage?” asked Cora. “Pretty much, and now that I’m thinking straight I know that they want something. This nation is already very weak, but they still came to us with bullsh*t about connecting the two countries,” At that statement, Cora chuckled and swirled her bottle in front of him, and then intently looked at Ryder’s. “The hell are you saying? How are you sober?” “Stop nit picking, would you?” Ryder grinned, and clicked open a new one. Cora held her bottle towards the window and the moonlight reflected through, creating lots of shades. It looked pretty. She then brought it down to her face, and chugged the last bit left. “Pass me one too,” Ryder looked at her, amazed at how well she could hold her liquor. “But seriously, I think they’re after something. You got something precious her? Like a treasure?” Ryder looked at her as if she was crazy, and stared at her. He quickly averted his eyes though, and thought about it seriously. “A treasure, huh?” He murmured. He thought about it and took a big gulp of his champagne. Slowly, his eyes lit up and he smiled wide, looking at Cora. Cora, on the other hand looked at him disgusted. “What? You’re creeping me out.” “Shut up. But I think I get what they want. I’m not sure if that can be called a treasure or not, but there is this old book in the basement. I did show it to the twins when they dropped by once. Apparently it’s a book that can ‘save the country’ or that’s what it said on the book. Oh, also it is coded, so in the end it’s actually pretty useless.” Ryder shrugged. He had seen it once, and he was disgusted by the amount of dust on it, the spider webs and torn pages. Well, it’s not like he could use it, so he had given it to Noah and Mia. The book was useless anyways and if someone could decipher the contents and make it useful, then why not? Cora’s eyes sparkled with hope and she smirked. “I gave it to Mia and Noah though,” he added quietly. “You sure are trusting, aren’t you i***t?” “Why wouldn’t I be? Besides, that guy doesn’t know I gave it away,” he said and Cora nodded. “That’s good.” After that they drank in silence for a bit and started feeling sleepy. It was almost dawn and they were talking the whole night. Since they were also pretty drunk, they yawned and sprawled on the bed. Little did they know this would cause a big problem the next day. When morning came, Asha was very bubbly. He wanted to dress his king appropriately since the official engagement would be taking place today. It was exciting, but horrifying since the king hated doing these events. In the past, he’d always go ahead with all these festivities, but the past few months he had completely stopped. It was good, but bad as well. No lady could even try to approach him, and some even thought if he swung the other way. Slowly, the servant knocked and went inside. He closed the door behind him quietly and set the clothing he had brought with the help of others. He was looking forward to helping his king with wearing it. After all it was gorgeous. It was a special tribute in honour of traditions and customs. But, as soon as he turned around, he heard a groan. Shaking his head and thinking that that wasn’t possible, he went over to the bed, and that was it. His eyes widened. He snapped. “W-who are you?! You wh*re!! How dare you seduce him?!” He shrieked, and his face grew redder every second. It looked like he was going to beat her up. Who was she?! How could she do that with the king?! His engagement was today, and he was here doing such things. ‘If the others hear what’s happened’, he shuddered, wondering if he could actually take this scene in front of him to his grave.
