Chapter 8 Escape

1078 Words
“Hey, Noah!” I yelled as soon as I jumped off the gravity circle. I never knew I had it in me. But the next thing I knew was my friend catching me. I fell straight into his arms, huddling closer to him as if he was my protection. He smiled warmly and gripped me tighter. From somewhere above, I heard the twitch and sigh of annoyance. I stopped my movements and looked to the dark figure standing upright, looking straight in my eyes. A jolt of shiver ran through me fast. He kept my gaze for a while, then turned around and walked. He walked straight through the sky, and his immense and powerful gaze attracted every attention he could receive. I gulped. I never realized that I was holding my breath. “Hey, you okay?” Noah questioned from behind me. It startled me and I looked at him for a moment when I understood that he was gesturing for me to get off. “Oh, sorry didn’t mean to.” I hopped off. Mia came rushing to me, with a worried look on her face. “Oh god, you need to know about this! That guy is the one we’re looking for!” She whispered-yelled to Noah who was having a meeting with himself. He took no more than a moment to snap his fingers and turn towards us. “I saw him outside when I was in the central market. He looked shady from the get-go so I decided to keep him in my mind”, explained Noah as it dawned on me. The way he questioned me. No wonder. He looked experienced. “Anyways, you should head home. Instead of hearing us ramble, it's better if you listen to Ryder.” He said making me tilt my head in confusion. “How the hell would I find him if I’m heading home?” I exclaimed. “You’re such a ditz. Are you seriously telling me you didn’t investigate when you came here?” Her way of talking was pretty normal and I wasn’t bothered in the slightest. Mia sighed heavily this time, opening her mouth again. “What an i***t! Fine, I’ll tell you! He’s your friend’s husband-to-be.” “Huh?? I’m sorry, what did you say?” “Exactly what you heard.” She crossed her arms in irritation. I could tell she wanted for me to go back, instead of dilly-dallying here. “Fine, I’m going, but be a dear and drop me off,” I said coldly, causing her to flinch. Hmph! She thinks my skill is rough for not practising. That’s what she gets! I smirked, almost as if I was asking for a beating. I winked. “Well, better get going! Don’t wanna miss out on what he’s got in store for me.” I mockingly said, and with a flash, I was in the courtroom within the castle. The flash of that teleportation was enough to cause people to look at me and people surrounded to protect a certain person. “Sorry for dropping in, but is there a Ryder here?” I sarcastically said, looking straight as I saw someone sitting with both hands on the arm still. I put my hands in my pockets and was soon approached by guards who assumed me as an assassin. I mean are they dumb? Which person would like to walk up and kill openly? As I was avoiding their blows and jumping on top of them, the guy in the centre looked at me and put his hands up while a pair twin guards were about to bash their spears on me. “Stop!” Everyone stopped in their tracks and looked at their monarch. He was standing up and looking at me intensely and soon, he was coming towards running. “Is it for real you?” I nodded and squeezed his shoulders. “Get your hands off!” I felt a blade next to my throat, a small line of blood trickling down. Ryder became alarmed and immediately deflected it with his own Excalibur. “How dare you! Do you have any idea who she is?!” After his fit of anger, he looked at me apologetically and bowed his head, “My apologies, leader, this won’t happen again.” I was stunned at the way he did that since it was all formal and s**t. But more so, the expression of the court was even more amusing. They were looking at me with their eyes wide and mouths hanging open. Phfft! It was hilarious and ridiculous the way they looked at me and were utterly shocked. Even Ryder smiled. “Hey, hey Ryder at least control these people, just looking at them makes me….. Want……. To…..” I laughed without containing it. “Alright, I get it. Everyone! I know this is something quite different to what you have experienced, but I hope you can dismiss immediately, I will formally introduce this young lady to you later.” As soon as their emperor broke the awkward silence, everyone quickly exited, being overly curious as to who this guest was. Even the king was this respectful towards this person. Just who in the world was she?   “I was honestly waiting for you. At first, I thought those two lied, but it looks like they were right.” He looked at me as if he wanted to hold me, but was hesitating. I opened my arms wide and encouraged him to come. “Oh please, it’s not like I’m gonna bite.” He hugged me tight, squeezing the breath out of me. But it felt nice to be hugged by someone like him. His embrace was warm and soon I found myself relaxing in his broad chest. I didn’t realize I was half-sleeping when he shook me and asked worriedly if I was okay. But obviously it felt like someone was murmuring and I drowsily rubbed my eyes. Later, I was being escorted to my room by some servants who happened to be there. As soon as I got on the bed, my eyelids grew heavy making me fast asleep.
