Chapter Twelve

Adalyn

All that's around me is darkness. I tried to open my eyes, but I felt so weak. I needed to get back to Rainn, that was the only thought running through my head. I mustered all the strength I could and finally pushed my eyes open. The room was dark and at first it didn't look like anyone was in here. I tried to adjust myself on the bed, "Rainn?", I called weakly. My throat was scratchy and even whispering hurt. I heard movement from across the room and a figure came running over to me.

"Adalyn, are you truly awake? Rainn's going to be so happy." "Liam, where is Rainn and what happened?" "I think it would be better if you heard it from him but let me get you some water and I will get him." He went into the bathroom and brought me a glass of water which I drank in two gulps. Then he went out into the hallway and yelled for Rainn. I heard loud thuds, and it sounded like he was running.

Rainn walked through the door cautiously, never taking his eyes off me. When he finally made it over to sit next to me, he told me that I had been in a coma for three weeks. I could not believe it. I noticed Ard'al and thanked him for everything he did for Rainn. I wanted a bath so badly after hearing I hadn't had one for so long. I'm sure I smelled horrible. Rainn got me in a bath, and we ate and then snuggled in bed. Even though I had been in a coma for so long, I was still tired and, hopefully, my body would be more rested, so I could start training.

I will never get tired of waking next to this gorgeous man. I was awake before him and my bladder felt like it was going to explode. I just wanted to lie there and watch him sleep. I traced his jaw with my finger and felt little pulses of electricity with every touch. "It's too early my love, go back to sleep", he said in his husky morning voice. My body shivered and I rolled on top of him. He opened his eyes, and I tapped my finger on my cheek, "Hmmm is it too early for this?", I asked as I reached down and wrapped my hand around his c**k.

He hissed out a breath and his hips jerked forward. "Well?", giving him a quizzical look. "I don't want to hurt you; you just woke up yesterday." I answered him by quickly positioning myself and sinking down on him. He let out an animalistic growl and grabbed my hips hard. I rocked my hips and leaned down to kiss him. He met my pace with the thrusting of his hips. I braced my hands on his rock-hard chest, "Yes, please don't stop." He flipped me over and his thrusts got harder. I dug my nails into his shoulders and arched my back into him, taking him impossibly deeper. "I'm so close."

Our marks lit up again as we released together. He wrapped his arms around me and pulled me onto his chest. "I will never get tired of that, ever", he said. I went to get out of bed and I groaned. “Are you ok my love, I didn’t hurt you, did I? “No darling I’m ok my muscles are just sore.” “I’ll draw you a bath before we go down for breakfast.” The hot water felt so good and my muscles started to relax. I soaked for a while and then got my training gear on.

Rainn picked me up and started carrying me downstairs. “I can walk, you know?” “Oh, I am very well aware, but I love having you this close.” I was content in his arms and I could tell how much it affected him with me being in a coma. When we get into the kitchen, Liam, Ard'al, and Malik are all sitting there talking. Malik jumps from his stool and runs to me, picking me up and spinning around. "I thought we lost you", he said. I heard a sound behind me and saw Rainn with clenched fists staring at Malik. "Oops my bad sorry dude, I was just happy to see her ok."

"It's fine. Just please refrain from touching her." Liam started laughing and almost fell off his stool. "Now that the excitement is over, I'm starving and we need to get out to the arena", I said. "Are you sure?", Malik asked, and they all looked at me questioningly. "Yes, I'm sure, we have no idea when Beherit is going to attack again, and we will soon have to start taking on council missions will we not?" Rainn looked at me, "The council doesn't know about our bonding yet, I wanted you to be 100% and your powers trained before we tell them."

"Will they have a problem?" Liam looked at me with a weird expression, "The council knows how powerful we are, and they were hoping that some of their daughters would be mated to us. We don't know how they will take not having some sort of control over us." "Yes, I want you to be able to handle yourself just on the off chance that someone may try something", Rainn added. "Well then, ok let's get this going." We ate a light breakfast and headed outside.

Once we got to the arena, Ard'al took over since he would be the one to try and help me figure out and train my powers. "Adalyn, I need you to close your eyes and imagine a pool inside you." I did as he asked and found a sparkling pool of purple inside myself. "Do you see it?", he asked. "Yes, I see it." "Good now pull from that pool." I concentrate on the pool for what feels like hours, and nothing seems to happen. "You can do this Addie", I heard Rainn say. With renewed confidence, I again concentrated on the pool and little tendrils started flowing over the top and coming towards me.

"Once you learn to harness your power, the pulling of it will be almost instantaneous", Ard'al said. The purple liquid was flowing around me and then was absorbed into myself. When I opened my eyes, everyone was staring at me, and my body was glowing purple. I lifted my arm, and it looked like purple flames flowing around me. Ard'al smiled, "Well, she's definitely got fire, try putting it out." I concentrated on the flames going away and they did. For the next few hours, we worked on conjuring the flames, manipulating the fire already present, and then using it to fight.

I threw a fireball at Rainn, but he wasn't fast enough and it hit him square in the chest. He went down immediately. I ran towards him, tears already forming in my eyes. His eyes were closed, and he had a horrible looking burn on his chest. "No, no, what did I do?", I yelled. I put my hands on his chest and started crying. A purple light glowed from my hands, and he took a deep breath in. When I looked down, his chest looked completely normal.

Ard'al looked down at us and looked completely shocked, "This is one ability that we have to be careful with. Only people that need to know should. If it gets out that your mate is a healer, people will use her until she has no energy left or is dead." Rainn looked completely shocked about everything that had just happened. "Well, I guess we should call it a day, but we need to test her further in the coming days." We all headed into the house to get showers and dinner.
