I woke up to the sun shining in my eyes. I opened them slowly, my head was pounding I looked at the clock on my bedside table, which I couldn't seem to find. I opened my eyes a little wider pushing past the pain, my entire beside table was gone. I sat up slowly and began to look around, all of my things were gone, this was not my room. I began to panic, were was I? I sat up in a bed that wasn't mine, I pulled the blankets off to stand up and looked down. I wasn't wearing any pants, I pulled the blankets back over myself.
Why wasn't I wearing pants? Who's shirt was this? But more importantly where in the hell was I? I looked around for my clothes but I didn't see them anywhere. There wasn't a whole lot in the room to give me an idea of where I was or whos rooms this was. There was a dresser on the other side of the room, I got out of the bed slowly and walked over to it. It was more of a hobble then a walk, my left leg was killing me.
I was opening up the third drawer when I heard a noise behind the door, I stopped dead in my tracks and stared at the door. There was no where in this room to hide, no curtains on the windows, no closet, the only place I could think of was under the bed. I tried to quickly and quietly walk over to the bed, I got down on the floor and looked under, there was no space under here. Apparently this was where this person put everything, of course, this was just my luck.
The noise was getting louder, which meant the person behind the noise was getting closer! I needed to find somewhere to hide and quickly. I hobbled as quickly as I could to the window and tried to pull it open, no luck. I was really staring to panic, who was this person, what did they want from me? I looked around the room, looking for anything, maybe I could find a weapon to defend myself. Again nothing!
My heart was racing, I had no where to run, I had no where to hide, I was trapped. I stared at the door and started backing into the corner, I slide down the wall and pulled my legs to my chest trying to make myself small and invisible. This wasn't happening, I closed my eyes tightly and held my breath as I heard the knob of the door turning. I wanted to cry, the door opened and then silence. No footsteps, no breathing, no nothing. I squeezed my legs tighter into myself, so tight it was starting to really hurt.
It was quite for what felt like forever and out of the silence finally came a voice "Alora?" It was a deep male voice, one that seemed familiar but I couldn't place it. I didn't want to look up, it was like I was frozen in fear. I heard footsteps coming closer to me, I tried to press myself against the wall. I turned my body away from the movement and covered my head with my arms. The foot steps stopped, I could feel someones eyes on me. My body started to shake with fear, I heard myself crying before I knew I was doing it.
I heard movement again, it sounded more hesitant this time, and then they left the room and closed the door. I stayed in the corner for a few more moments before I slowly lifted my head. They were gone, I sat up slowly and looked toward the door. There on the chair by the door was what looked to be my clothes, folded neatly in a small pile. I slowly got to my feet and made my way over to the chair, and grabbed my clothes and walked as quickly as I could over to the bed.
I sat on the bed and unfolded the pants, I leaned down to put my foot in the leg hole when i noticed my ankle. It was swollen almost twice its normal size, but it was bandaged up. I touched the bandage softly and winced in pain, how did this happen? I pulled on my jeans slowly standing only when i needed to button them up. I pulled off of shirt and was about to put mine on when the door opened. I jumped and turned toward the door.
He stood in the doorway and just stared at me. I covered myself the best I could with my shirt, and walked backward slowly. "Please Sir, Please just let me go" I begged softly trying to put more distance between us. He tilted his head and a look of confusion swept across his face. He took a step forward and I jumped back and landed on my left leg, the pain was too much and i fell to the ground. He rushed forward and I screamed "Please don't hurt me again!" he stopped a few feet from me and got on his knees, "Why would I hurt you Alora?" he asked with a confused tone.
"Why else are you keeping me here?" I asked covering myself from him gaze, I saw a small smile sweep across his face, "I found you in the woods, alone, cold and injured, I brought you here to protect you" his voice was low and calming, but I didn't know if I could believe him. "I'm gonna turn around so you can put your shirt on and then we can talk okay?" he spoke slowly and smiled again before turning around. I pulled my shirt quickly over my head, and cleared my throat to tell him I was done.
He turned his head slowly, making sure I was really dressed, when he saw my shirt on he turned around and then sat facing me. "Do you know who I am?" he asked, I shook my head. "Do you know who you are?" he asked, I grimaced and shook my head again. His face fell slightly, "You must have hit your head a lot harder then I thought" his eyes slide up to my forehead, my hand instinctively reached up and I felt the bandage that was there.
"Who are you?" I asked softly. He smiled "My name is Henrik, and your name is Alora" He moved forward slowly reaching out for my hand. I pulled my hand back "I don't, I don't remember you" I said softly "I"m sorry."
He smiled at me softly, "That's okay, You have a lot of people worried about you thought." He slowly stood up and reached out his hand. "We better go let them know you are okay, and that our mating is still on track" I looked at his hand and then up at his face. "Our, Our what?" I asked very confused.
He smiled sweetly down at me "The ceremony we have been planning all month, we are going to be mated." He leaned down further putting his hand closer to mine, "We are in love, that's why you were in the woods, you were coming to tell me you had chosen me as your mate"
I closed my eyes and shook my head, I didn't remember any of that, I didn't remember him, or who I was. I put my hand to my head and tried to remember, I felt a hand touch my face. I looked up and he was kneeling right in front of me, his hand cradling my face. "You will remember, I'll help you" His voice was so calm, I knew it was suppose to help, but for some reason I got a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach.
