Nyla’s P.O.V. I wake up from my alarm. The last few weeks were as hectic. Today Our company is having a big deal, and I was managing the deal. So last night I sleep late and today I have to wake up early. But after today’s meeting if the deal is done my boss promised us to take us on a small trip. So I was excited and nervous. I quickly get ready and change into a white shirt and a Grey color pencil skirt with a matching jacket. I pair them with matching heels and left for the office after taking my belongings. I work in a famous publishing company in London and I am the chief editor of this company. I work here alone and my parents live in another city. I move here as I wanted to pursue my career, and this company is offering me well. I always tell my parents to move here, but as they never wanted to move here, I live here alone Though I always try to make them agree to come here. As my salary is very good, I bought a car last year so I don’t need to travel by public transport. I drive my car into my office. As it is early in the morning, few people are in the office. I enter my room and log into the computer. The meeting will start in half an hour, so I start to prepare the things we will need. After half an hour, we are in the conference room and the meeting started. It took two hours for our meetings to get finished, and I know we have grabbed this deal from the smile of my boss. My boss is a 30 years married guy who is friendly and generous to us. He is like a friend to us. If I would not have met him, I would not know men can gossip so much and there should be the title ‘ gossip king.’ After the deal is signed, he comes to me and praised me. “You have done an excellent job, Nyla.” He has a very charming smile. “Thanks, Sid.” I smile back and start to work toward my office. “So what is new gossip today?” He tags along and asks. “Hold on. If you would not be my boss and married, I would have thought you are still a teenager and surely a girl.” I say teasing and he rolls his eyes.  “OK, there is no age for having fun, and who told you only girls can gossip?” he raises his brow and I shake my head.  “Nobody but it is normal, right?” As much as I know, these boys stay away from these talks. But who will believe it after meeting him? “OK, OK. don’t waste my time. Just tell me what happened?” He says and I realize I am going to disappoint him.  “Sorry to disappoint you, but I don’t have any gossip to spice up your morning.” He sighs. “You are such a boring person. Have some fun or you will get old on some days. You didn’t even get married yet.” He complains and I know where this topic is going. “I am only 28 now.” I groan. Why everyone is so jealous of my single status? “Yes, and I am thirty. Look I am happily married and planning to increase the population of the world.” He says with a proud smile and I frown. “TMI. I am happy with how I am, and I don’t want to make my life hell. So let me enjoy my single life.” I push him outside my office and sit in my chair. I keep the files and start to do my work.  “How long. Till eternity?” he asks “Whatever,” I say and try to ignore him and do my work. “Have someone boyfriend or maybe girlfriend at least,” he says and looks at him, feeling disgusted. “Eww.... Don’t talk nonsense. I am straight.” I say and he laughs. “Then have some boyfriend.” He says again and I shake my head. Every day, I don’t know how but every conversation of us turns to this boyfriend topic. I know he is not leaving this. But I am not ready for any relationship at this moment.  “No thanks. So if your work as a matchmaker has ended can we do some work.” I ask him and he sighs. “Of course. That’s why I pay you.” He says and starts to leave. “Thanks,” I say and concentrate on my laptop.   During the lunch break, I am sitting in my college canteen with Tina. “So how was your day?” Tina asks and sits beside me. “As usual. Today I finished all the work of Mehra’s. It takes a lot of time. I am glad it’s over at last.” This Clint was making an immense problem. We are working on it for months. It’s just they are too demanding.  “s**t. You are always perfect. I also need to finish the work or Sid will leave me here while you will enjoy your trip.” She says sadly, and I smile. “By the way, where is Sid today?” I ask. I didn’t see him after he left my office. We usually have our lunch together. “Don’t take his name or he will come and ask me whether my work is finished or not.” She says and I chuckle. “Why are you always afraid of him? He is such a sweet person.” I say and she gives me a look that says are you joking? “He is sweet to you because you are good at work. Ask me how sweet he is.” I laugh and eat my food. “You are something else.” I shake my head.  “So how is your status now?” She asks and I give her a confused look. “What status?” I ask back. “Relationship status.” She says and I sigh. Why everyone is after me. “Single and by the way do you need to ask me this question every day?” I say annoyed, but she didn’t understand my mood. “Of course. God knows when some prince charming will come and steal your heart.” She looks disappointed. “Come out from your dream. There is no prince is charming in the real world and I am happily single. Why I will ruin my life being with someone else.” Love is not my cup of tea. I want to stay away from it as much as possible. “Being with someone doesn’t ruin your life. It makes your life beautiful. Don’t you see in the movies?” She says and I know she doesn’t know the reality and I don’t want her to know too. “Keyword movies. In real life, people just ruin each other and snatch their innocence, happiness.” I am one of the victims.  “Why you are so negative about love. Did someone cheat on you?” She asks. “No. I was never in relationship-type people.” I blurted. Everyone here knows I never was in a relationship and I would like it to remain like this. “OK, OK now if you have finished your lunch, finish your work,” I say to change the topic. “Yes, you are right. See you after office.” She takes her plate and gets up. “But. Today I take 1-hour leave before office time so we will meet tomorrow.” I inform her. “OK. Bye then.” She says and leaves. “Bye,” I say and get up to go to my office too. After she left, some memories came to my mind “How can you think I can love you? I think you as a good friend always.” “But John” “Listen to me carefully Nyla. We can be just friends not more than that.” “OK”   “What are you thinking beautiful” Sid said coming to me and I startle. “Nothing, just thinking something,” I reply with a smile. “OK, so ready for the trip tomorrow?” He asks. “Always,” I say smiling “Then meet you at seven tomorrow outside the office.” He says. “OK. Who is going with us?” “Tina, you and me, and Oh one of my friends will tag along.” He says. This tour is not an official tour. So only we two are going with him. “Your wife?” I ask as she was also coming with us last time I knew. “She is busy so I am taking my friend.” He says and I nod. “OK, so I will be on time tomorrow. And you remember right I am leaving early today?” I ask as he always forgets and then disturbs me with constant phone calls. “Yes, I remember.” He says and I nod. “OK then. I will leave now. You have your lunch.” I say and leave.
