2.THE BEGINNING

Death. Darkness. Revenge. Those were the only three things occupying Jason’s and Mia’s minds. Their family was brutally killed. The explosion was enormous and toxic enough that everything turned into ashes. There was no single trance of bodies or what’s left from them. They couldn’t even hold a respectful funeral for them nor bury them. Bury who or what? The bodies have all been burned, turning into ashes. It hurts Jason’s heart by only thinking about the t*****e that his family went through. Good people like them couldn’t die in peace. No, they died burning as their bodies were laying among the flames. And why did they die? Because some psychopath wanted to get revenge from them, a damn coward who went after the weak and kind people in his life that wouldn’t kill a fly. And for Lindsey, they caught her off guard. She no longer walks with her g*n nor any weapons. They are f*****g heartless cowards who will be soon hunted. “I know what you are thinking.” His angel’s sweet voice snapped him out of his dark thoughts. “And we won’t be doing that.” With his cold yet burning eyes, he looked at her. she also looked awful. Her eyes are red from all that crying, her face looks pale with her hair tied carelessly. “Don’t look at me like that.” She pointed. “We stopped with that life and we won’t be returning back to it, cause that’s what they want.” “The hell with what they want!” He yelled making her flinch at the sudden outburst. “This was a clear message of an upcoming war. And whoever those assholes are I will f*****g hunt him. So, I don’t need to hear any more of your bullshit.” “And you think by doing that you will feel at peace? This life full of killing at hatred won’t make you feel any better about the situation, they will still be dead!”  they kept glaring at each other, with challenging eyes. “I am not the enemy here Jason!” “You sure do seem like that.” That made her freeze like a statue. He insulted her and her loyalty, only because she wants what’s best for him. He also seemed to notice his mistake as his eyes softened but it was too late. Mia stormed out of the room, away from him. There was nothing more left to say anyway. “f**k!” He yelled as he threw a wooden chair that collided with the wall, shattering with flying pieces of wood luring around him. ^^^ “Should we go up and check on them?” Maya asked the three men. “It has been like three hours since they fought.” Adrian glanced at the stairs then shook his head. “No, I think they need their space today.” The doorbell rang and Ben got up with a tired sigh, “I will get it.” Opening the door, he was greeted with a set of dark brown eyes. Those eyes that till this day made his heartbeat accelerate. “H..Hello Ben,” Ella’s sweet voice was a melody to his ears. It has been too long since he last heard her voice, maybe a year since their break up. It was pathetic how he is still affected by her. “Ella,” He nodded with a small smile. “Jass,” He then nodded at a tired-looking Jasmine. “Come in, guys.” He opened the door wider for them. “Hey, let me help with that.” He offered as he took hold of Ella’s heavy suitcase. “No, No it’s totally fine.” She shook her head with a wary smile. “I need help.” Jasmine raised her hand awkwardly, sensing the tension. He nodded and went to help her when a voice boomed from behind him. “Ben! Who was that? What’s tak— Jass!” Jasmine looked up at the person that held her heart in his hands. “Adrian!” she yelled as a huge grin took over her face. She ran towards his opening arms, leaving Ben alone with her suitcases. “I missed you so much!” Adrian tightened his arms around her, almost crushing her. It has been more than six months since the last time they saw each other in person. He missed hugging and kissing her. “I thought you were taking tomorrow’s morning flight.” He questioned as he held her tiny, cute face between his large hands. “We were,” she nodded. “ but then we thought we wouldn’t be able to wait that long.” All their smiles fell as they remembered the real reason that gathered all them today. “I can’t believe they are dead,” Jasmine mumbled as her tears started falling. Adrian hugged her close to his chest. “Shh, I know baby, I know.” He led them to the kitchen, leaving Ella and Ben. “Here, sit here.” She sat as he went to fetch her a cup of water. “Layla and Marcus were my also my parents,..” she sobbed. “they treated me like their daughter more than my own parents ever did.” He gave her a cup of water and she took a sip. “Did you tell your parents after I informed you this morning?” “Yes, I did.” She nodded. “they were quite shocked and told me they would finish up some stuff and come back home.” She then scoffed. “Even when it came to the death of their family, they still chose the business before anything else. I left everything and came here as soon as I heard, and they… they…” she took a deep breath. “what if it was me? Would they wait a day or two till they come and see my dead body?” “Don’t say that, Jass.” He engulfed her in a warm hug as she rested her head on his chest. “Don’t think like that.” Lifting her head he said, “And don’t forget, I am always here for you, no matter what.” He wiped falling tears as she managed a small smile. Then he brought his lips down to hers. He kissed her sorrows and sadness away. He kissed her like he wanted to kiss her for the past months they have been apart. ^^^ “where are they?” Ella asked as she sat on the sofa. “Upstairs in separate rooms.” Blake answered. “Why separate rooms?” Jasmine came in the room with Adrian hot on her tail. “Shouldn’t they be together at the moment?” They always stick together in situations like this, she remembers last year and how they were inseparable until they overcame the situation. “They kinda got into a fight…” Maya mumbled. “what?” Jass gasped. “What for?” “We don’t know, we just heard the yelling and crashing stuff.” Adrian shrugged as he and Jass took a seat. “Crashing stuff?” Ella’s eyes widened. “Is it that bad?” “I will go up and check on Mia.” Jasmine decided as she made her way up to her. It was a moment of silence when Ella spoke, “You staying at mom’s?” “Yeah, we are,” Blake answered as he rubbed Maya’s shoulder. “We? You are taking her to our family house?” Ella lifted her brows, sending daggers at Maya. “Yes, what’s your problem?” Blake was getting angry. Why is she talking about Maya like that with no reason? “My problem is that you have been together for like what? Six months? and you are taking her to mom’s, and you brought her to that private moment of our friends. She isn’t that close to them.” “Actually she is.” Adrian shrugged. Ella threw him a dirty look. “Okay, I will shut up!” “Actually we have been together for a year now. And all our friends and mother adore her. we hang out with them and visit mom occasionally,” Blake was furious and he won’t take any more bullshit from her, she has been acting like a spoiled brat for too long. “but have would you know all of that? Huh? Miss Ella has been too busy with her life in London that she wouldn’t dare to pick up the phone and give mom a call. Oh and let’s not forget about your break up with Ben a year ago who actually is closer to me nowadays more than you, even though the break up was your fault and now you are the one who is pushing everybody away not sparing me a second when I call to check on you. So, don’t you dare and come saying bullshit when you know nothing!”  He stood up holding Maya’s hand, pulling her up in progress. “We are leaving and will come again tonight with something to eat.” He didn’t wait for anyone’s answer and got out of the house pulling Maya along. “What just happened?” Jasmine said from the entrance of the living room. “Nothing,” Ella said with a hoarse voice as she was on the verge of crying. “I will stay here with you Jass.” “o..okay.” Whenever Jasmine visited home she would crash at Jason’s and Mia’s as her parents are always overseas. “Are you okay though?” “Yeah, I.. I just need a nap.” She flew out of the room and up to Jass’ room. “Weren’t you supposed to be with Mia?” Adrian questioned as Jasmine took a seat beside him. “Yeah, but I found her asleep.” “Are you okay man?” Adrian asked Ben as he seemed in his own world. “You are awfully quiet today.” “Is that because o—“ Ben didn’t let Jass continue her sentence as he cut her off. “No!” He stood up. “I am okay. I just need to smoke.” And he was gone to the back garden. “Everything is going downhill.” Jass sighed as she rested her head on Adrian’s chest, closing her eyes. ^^^ Blake was resting on his bed, looking at the ceiling when Maya made her presence known. She pecked his lips as she took a seat beside him on the bed, making a blissful smile take place on his face. “I don’t want to be the cause of a problem between you and your sister, so I won’t go with you tonight.”  “What are you saying? You are not causing any trouble.” Blake immediately straightened up, “she is the one who has a problem so she sucks it.” “Blake…” “No, Maya!” Blake let out a breath as he takes her hands in his. “You are the only girl who made me feel that true and unquestionable way, my feelings for you are raw and strong and I am determined to continue the rest of my life with you by my side, and if Ella has a problem with that so be it.” He caresses her cheek gently. “Because I am deeply and utterly in love with you, Maya.” “I love you too Blake.” She smiled genuinely with her heart dancing in her chest after hearing those words from him. Suddenly a more joyful matter came to her mind. “When will we tell them and your mother?” Blake’s demeanor completely changed as a grin took over his face. “Soon baby girl, but not now.” Then he kissed her forehead. ^^^ Everybody was asleep. The house was extra quiet that you would think no one is in there. When in fact Ben fell asleep on the comfy sofa in the back garden, while Adrian and Jasmine snuggled together on the couch in front of the T.v, as for Ella she was fast asleep with dried tears on her cheeks up in the guest room. Same goes to Jason and Mia who much needed that rest. After yesterday’s night's events, none of them could close an eye. As Mia was in peaceful sleep, escaping the cruel reality her phone’s ringtone disturbed the peacefulness. “ugh…” she groaned, reaching the to her phone she put it on silent and continued her sleep. However not long after another phone call occurred, the person calling was hell determined and Mia wasn’t in the mood to take any calls. So, she did what’s best and put the phone on silent again. But, that didn’t stop the caller. He rung for the third time, “Shut up!” she groaned into her mattress as she placed a pillow on her head as it would protect her from the world. The bastard was f*****g determined that he kept ringing non-stop. Mia sat up on her bed annoyed, holding the phone she answered the anonymous number, completely annoyed and on the verge of ripping someone’s head off. “What?” “You f*****g answer when I f*****g call you, b***h!” A fake deep, computerized voice was what greeted Mia’s ear. “Ahh!” Mia’s scream filled the mansion as her arm started bleeding from the small knife that flew through her window and landed in her upper arm, causing a huge cut and blood flowing down her arm. “Consider this as your first and last warning.” And the voice hung up on her. “Ahh!! You f*****g bastard!” She screamed as her phone fell on her bed, the same instant Jason came barging into her room with terrified Look on his face. “Mia?” The view of her wounded with her blood decorating the floor and bed made him anxious. Upon hearing her name, she stopped trying to get the knife out of her arm and looked at her lover’s concerned eyes. “What happened?” Ben appeared behind Jason with Other three following him, each one of them looking as they just fell out of bed. “We just came and heard sc—“ Jane’s voice was heard from the corridor. “s**t!” “Oh dear god, Mia!” Jasmine yelled at the scene in front of her. With raging and determined eyes, Mia said with too much venom coating her voice. “This is the starter of a war!” Her eyes connected with Jason’s and a deep understanding laid between them as Jason’s eyes hardened with his fist clenching after understanding what exactly happened to the love of his life. ^^^ “Who do you think is doing that?” Blake asked as they all sat in the living room. “I have no f*****g idea.” Jason sighed as he squeezed Mia’s hand. After Damon and Jane cleaned the wound, he apologized like dozens of times and wouldn’t dare to leave her alone. “I thought it all ended the minute we closed that dark chapter of our lives.” “It has been two years.” Damon nodded. They were just entering the house as Ben opened for them when they all heard Mia’s scream, they didn’t have any time to settle. “Why would someone start something now when none of us is in a g**g anymore?” “Wait do you think that the explosion and what happened to Mia now are connected?” Ben asked. “Yes, isn’t that obvious?” Mia lifted her brow. “No, actually,” Ella shrugged. “I also thought those are two separate incidents with two different enemies.” “I don’t think so..” Jason trailed off taking in the situation. “I think they are connected,” Jasmine shrugged. “Me too,” Maya added. “I mean it won’t be a coincidence that this happened only exactly a day after the explosion. Right?” Ella gave her a bored look, twirling her hair. As the other processed the situation. “I think she is right.” Blake nodded. “And do you remember the message at the end of the video yesterday? It said it’s just the beginning, so maybe today was their second attack.” “What an FBI in training you are!” Mia commented. “I try to do my best m’ lady.” Blake winked playfully. “He is just modest,” Maya admired her boyfriend. “He is one of the tops in all of his classes.” And it was true, Blake was really into the FBI agent duties. He loved taking cases in training and helping in real ones with real FBI agents. He has a promising future in that field. “I have been trying to get any leads on that number that called you, but…” Adrian huffed as he has been trying to use his hacking skills with no luck whatsoever. “Nothing, Nothing at all. It all leads to a dead end. This person whoever he is knows exactly what he is doing.” “Goddamit!” Jane sighed. “Why does trouble seem to be following us?” None of them uttered another word as their thoughts were heavy and toxic enough. Not until Ben decided to acknowledge the elephant in the room. “Okay,” Ben clasped his hand, gaining his friend’s attention. “Here is the real question that all of us want to ask but still didn’t..” He paused. “Are we leaving it to the police or..?” Mia and Jason exchanged a look, it was enough to look without much talking done. They understood each other perfectly. They don’t want their friends being dragged in this stuff again and more importantly, they were still debating whether to go through it or not. “W—“ As Mia was going to say their final decision, a phone call came to Jason. Everybody tensed waiting for it. “It’s just Dr. Fredjeck.” They all relaxed again. Then Jasmine sat alarmed, “wait who is Dr. Fredj—“ “Hello, doctor?” Jason didn’t need any more questions to be asked yet. “You need to be here urgently, Mr. Williams. Now!” Jason wasted no time, as he jumped on his legs with all eyes following him. “More trouble.” And it dawned on Mia.
