Chapter 5

I looked up from his phone and did not see Max. Oh am so going to kill someone today.

"MMMMAAAAXXXX..........." I yelled

"Hey... I am not deaf you know, no need to shout. You are a girl for Christ sake." He said with a smug lookp

I smiled at him and walked up to his front.

"I know you are not deaf but you are going to be dead. You have a ten seconds head start" I glared at him

"s**t;" He cursed and grabbed his jacket.

"One."

"..."

"Three"

"..."

"Four"

"..."

"Five"

"..."

"Six"

"..."

Good. He is not here anymore I can watch the movie alone. Peace and quiet I said in my head and took a comfortable position on the couch.

THIRTY MINUTES LATER

"Kayla!!!!!!!!!!" Max shouted

"What?" I said

"Enjoy the movie?" He asked smiling like a devil

"You know that is a pretty hard question. Who exactly defines enjoyment. What if I enjoy sadness or what if I enjoyed only half of the movie of the final quarter or only the beginning or maybe a particular scene or maybe —"

"Kayla!!!!!" He yelled cutting me off

"That was kind of rude Max. Apologize to me right now" I got up from the couch and faced him.

"That's was rude?"

"Yes, duh" I folded my arms.

"Leave my house right now, you have ten seconds to do that"

"Fine and I don't need ten seconds, am leaving" I picked the popcorn and poured it on his face, smiled devilish and ran out of the house not forgetting to slam the door. I still had to have dinner with my family tonight. Tonight might be the last time I see mom and dad together acting lovingly. Maybe I should skip dinner tonight. I better call my sister.

I subconsciously reached for my purse. s**t. I didn't take anything while leaving Max's house.

I ran back to the front door, immediately I got there Max was already waiting with my stuff.

"When next you are visiting, bring a box to get your other stuff and you are no longer invited her. So not when you are visiting. Forget about it. I'll mail your stuff to your house."

"Stop talking like that, I am not a child or an irresponsible person."

"Yeah, yeah"He said smiling

"You know. I wish Lucy dumped you."

"I wish you never get married"

"Then you'll never get married. Remember your promise" I said giggling

"Just f**k off..... " He slammed the door at my face. Not the first time and definitely not the last.

I hit the right spot again

Sigh. I wish he would grow up and become a real man soon. I stood there for a while looking for my phone.

He opened the door again.

"What?" I asked.

"Your phone. Why is your phone not in your purse."

I snatched it from him and smiles.

I walked away and he shouted . "Irresponsible and careless "

I gave him the face that says...what the hell is wrong with you.

ring***

"Hi sis. Just wanted to call you" I said after answering my phone. Think of the devil and she'll call you.

"I called earlier, Max answered the phone. Are you still at his place?" she asked

"No. Yes. Well, am leaving right now. Walking to my car as we speak"

"Wait for me am a few blocks away. I"

She hung up.

I got into my car and started the engine. Drove out of Max's house and I was blocked by a taxi I got to the main entrance. My sister sashayed out of the taxi and took a seat in my car.

"This is want you call a few blocks away. You were like less than five minutes away" I said

"You are a slow driver." She sighed and closed her eyes. "I'm so tired"

"You want to say hi to Max?"

"Why should I?"

"Forget I asked" I sighed and entered the road.

"Hey! He's not my best friend"

"I said forget about it. Do you know why mom and dad suddenly called you home for dinner?"

"No. Maybe. We are not married. I am going to be twenty five in two months. There can be a long list of reasons why Kayla. Let's just go and see what's up."

"Madison do you have something to tell me?"

"Why the voice Kayla? And call me Maddie."

"Maddie?"

"Oh yes...Congratulations Kayla. Queen comedy, you deserve it." she smiled and gave me a side hug

"Not that. But thank you....... Anything else"

"Just ask Kayla?"

"You really think you don't have any important thing you want to tell me."

"I got my first hundred million in a day badge." She shrugged

"Maddie?"

"I already told you to ask."

"Mom and dad are divorced and for Pete's sake mom's getting married soon. Mom's getting married... Married Maddie. Married. Like a ring and party"

"...." She didn't say anything

"..."I didn't either

"How did you find out? When did you find out?"She finally asks after a long while

"Does it matter? How come you didn't tell Me. I am you sister. Their daughter too. Am I really a child to everyone" I am so angry. I sped up.

"Slow down Kayla." She said

"You try to open up such important things to me and I'll slow down."

"No information is worth dying for so please slow down"

I stepped on the breaks slowly. she was absolutely right.
