Chapter 3 Vretel

3036 Words
After searching the ground and the sky, I have come up with nothing. I know I have heard of what has happened to Godric before, but every book and scroll that I have read has nothing about what happened to Godric or how to awaken him.   Judging by the fact that I can’t hear him, Irinduma and Selaria are both having as much luck as I have had.   With eagles wings, I soar over the trees, hoping to find anything that resembles a place that the wise one’s used to hide the more powerful scrolls and books. But I can’t find anywhere that looks remotely good enough to hide anything of great value.   The only choice that I have is to return to Selaria and come up with a new plan, or a new solution.   Flying through the air I notice Selaria about to get into the carriage just outside of the Rebellions training grounds. I’m not sure why she is here, but I fly down to her.   “Vretiel how did you go?” I hear Selaria ask out loud when I reach her.   I notice the crowd gathering around her and realise that Selaria, Irinduma and I aren’t the only ones that need answers.   I close my eyes and shake my head slowly, a little upset with myself that I wasn’t able to find an answer.   I feel a hand on my head and I open my eyes and see Selaria smiling sadly at me, but I can feel her encouragement and love, even though she was sad that I didn’t find an answer she doesn’t blame me.   Which gives me the strength and determination I need to keep trying and looking around I notice that the others were also nodding and smiling at me even though I know they weren’t happy smiles, I know that they would help us find a solution to bring him back to us.   “What is happening here?” I ask through our link, hoping to change the subject, and figure out why she is here and not at the castle.   “Long story.” She replies through the link and then to Charlie. “If there isn’t anything else, I better be heading back.”   “Of course, and keep us up to date and don’t be a stranger.” He says pulling her into a quick hug.   “Don’t worry, you will know when something changes.” Selaria says with a small smile.   I can feel through Irinduma that she is hoping for the best, but knows that the outcome could go both ways, and since it’s already been a month she knows a lot of people are already giving up, but she won’t give up while there is still a small possibility that he will come back to us.   Selaria steps into the carriage followed by Irinduma. I look at Charlie and then join Selaria and Irinduma in the carriage, hoping Selaria will explain why she was here.   Once inside I notice that Irinduma has taken the form of a cat with a scorpion’s tail, and is sitting on Selaria’s lap being patted, while Selaria looks aimlessly outside thinking about Godric and the short time they have had together and then a vision forms without her even trying to create  one.   Godric and her are fighting the Elders, but this time they both have wings, that look between an angels and butterflies, and they had markings on their bodies, that I can only faintly remember seeing somewhere, even their weapons are different, but I know I have seen them before.   As soon as the vision ended Selaria looked at both myself and Irinduma, wanting answers, but neither of us have an answer, but all three of us know that Godric is going to wake up, it was just a matter of time now.   I don’t understand how they got the wings or when this is going to happen, but they look amazing. I know I have seen a picture and read somewhere about all of this, but I hust can’t seem to remember where.   “Don’t worry about it, we will figure it out.” Irinduma says through the link.   I know she is right, but it just keeps nagging me, I know I have seen it somewhere, I just need to remember where.   “Vretiel, it’s ok, we will figure it out.” Selaria says out loud. “But right now, we need to focus on my training and finding a way to wake Godric up, not stress about it.”   I know she is right, but it’s hard to focus when I know that I have read somewhere about what is happening, I just need to remember where.   “Just rest for a few days and then go back to it.” Irinduma says through our link.   I look over at her and notice and feel her getting agitated with me. I know and understand why, I’ve done this before, get all frustrated with myself because I can’t seem to get something.   “I agree with Irinduma, rest, stay by Godric’s side for a few days, maybe that will help you remember.” Selaria says giving me a small smile.   I stare out the window and notice that we are almost at the castle. I guess they are right, a few days meditating and trying to get back into Godric’s mind might be a good idea. I turn back to Selaria and notice both of them smiling, yes, they know that they are right and I’m taking their advice.   “We are glad that you are taking our advice.” Irinduma says through the link.   The carriage comes to a halt and I notice that Selaria isn’t happy, but to be truthful, the only time I have seen her happy is beside Godric talking with Tarlia or with the Rebellion and her father. She still hasn’t forgiven the Queen, which seems to be taking its toll on her.   “I’m fine Vretiel.” Selaria says as the door to the carriage opens and Michael holds his hand out to her.   She smiles and shakes her head and gets out of the carriage clinging to Irinduma. I know that she isn’t fine and I don’t think she will be until Godric awakens.   I get out and change form at the same time. I change so my form looks like a dog, but I have a tail like a horse. The guards get into formation and lead Selaria into the castle. I can feel Selaria’s worry and I remember that neither of them told me what happened with the Rebellion, but judging by how Selaria is acting, I’m guessing it wasn’t anything good.   “I chose a new leader for them, because they weren’t united.” Selaria told me through the link, and showed me everything that had happened.   I am surprised that the Queen had allowed this. I know that Marcus didn’t want to be a leader, he didn’t even want to be King, because of what happened to his older brother.   Selaria had stopped walking and is looking at me shocked and confused, and I notice that Irinduma is as well.   “What?” I ask through the link, surprised by their looks.   “What do you mean Marcus didn’t want to be King?” Selaria asks sounding surprised and confused. “What happened to his older brother?” she asks before I can answer the first question.   “Your Highness, we need to keep moving.” Ednod says trying to get us to walk again and when she didn’t he adds firmer. “Your Highness, it’s best this isn’t discussed.”   “What is that supposed to mean?” Selaria asks sounding furious and I know that it’s because she doesn’t like that her questions aren’t being answered.   “I’ll tell you later, or you could ask your mother.” I say through the link.   Selaria turns and before her guards can get into formation she marches off and I can see that she is heading for her mother, and I’m not sure if it’s a good thing or not by how angry Selaria is feeling.   “I don’t think this is going to end well.” I hear Irinduma say.   I take off running to catch up with them, and am surprised to see that Selaria is still carrying Irinduma.   “What did you say to her?” Ednod says in a hushed growl when I catch up.   I don’t like Ednod much, so he can find out with everyone else. But I agree with Irinduma, this isn’t going to end well.   It took Selaria about an hour to find the Queen, who is in the Queens quarters with Selaria’s father. The Queen was surprised to see Selaria at her door.   “Is everything ok Selaria?” The Queen asks.   “Why did you become Queen?” Selaria demands.   “You better come in, it’s a long story.” The Queen says moving so Selaria can enter. “Guards you can stay out there.” The Queen says when Ednod tries to enter.   “I’m going to Godric, let me know if you need me.” I say through the link, and start to head off, until I’m stopped by Ednod.   “What did you tell her?” Ednod asks glaring at me.   I shake my head and run off towards Selaria’s quarters, I don’t have the time or patience to deal with Ednod.   It doesn’t take me long to get to Selaria’s quarters. I walk over to where Godric is lying and sit on one of the seats and start meditating to try and get our link reconnected.   I feel a hand on my back, which brings me out of my meditation and I realise that it’s dark. I look up and notice that Selaria was the one that interrupted my meditation.   “You need sleep Vretiel.” She says through the link and walk to her room.   “Ok.” I say turning into a cat with an elephant’s tail.   “Tomorrow we both need to go with Selaria and the Queen to the farms.” I hear Irinduma say walking over to me.   “Do I really need to go?” I ask, hoping I can stay and keep trying to reconnect with Godric.   “Yes you do.” She says firmly through the link brushing against me.   “I need to try and connect with Godric.” I tell her leaping onto the crystal coffin and laying down.   “Selaria needs both of us tomorrow.” She says joining me.   I look down at Godric and wonder how long it’s going to take until he wakes up, and I feel Selaria and notice that she is thinking the same thing.   I close my eyes and wait for sleep to take me, I know that tomorrow is going to be a big day. I could feel it from Irinduma and I saw that the Queen is taking Selaria to the farms tomorrow. I’m not sure why, but I’m guessing it’s all part of the training.   I feel myself being shoved and realise that I must have fallen asleep. I glance down at Godric and find him still in the dead state.   “He’s not dead.” I hear Selaria say out loud.   She must have heard my thoughts. I know he’s not dead, but still he doesn’t look like he is breathing and no-one can feel a heartbeat. I agree with Selaria, he isn’t dead, I can still feel him and so can Selaria.   “We better get going.” I hear Selaria say.   I look over at her and notice that she is in a gown, but it isn’t one of the formal ones. It’s emerald green with brown trimming and brown embroidery on the bottom.   “You look like a tree.” I say through the link jokingly. I can feel that she isn’t happy and I wanted to see her smile. I think the last time I saw her smile was when Godric was awake.   “I’m trying to be happy, but I miss him.” She says sadly through the link walking over to us and placing her hand on Godric’s coffin. “Should I change?” She asks turning to me.   “No, I was only joking.” I say brushing against her hand.   “Let’s not keep the Queen waiting.” Irinduma says through the link trying to hurry us up.   Selaria nods her head and walks towards the door grabbing a green cloak.   She stops when she gets to the door and turns briefly to look towards Godric and then with a slight nod she turns the handle and walks out of her quarters.   Irinduma and I walk on either side of her, while two of her guards walk in front of her and two walk behind her. I know the Queen tried to get her to have more than four, but because of Irinduma and myself she allowed only four,.   I notice that Selaria’s thoughts are still on yesterday and is still a little shocked that Marcus is her uncle and that her other uncle and grandfather might have been murdered.   No-one really knows what happened, but it is a little strange that they both died so close to each other and which is why the Queen has three times the guards and three food testers.   “Should I have more guards?” I hear Selaria ask through the link.   I can feel her fear and worry and notice that she has heard my thoughts again, it wasn’t like I had been projecting my thoughts on purpose, but it is getting hard to hide them.   “No, we will keep you safe.” Irinduma says through the link and I nod my agreement.   I am going to make it my mission to keep her safe, not just for Godric, but because I can feel that both her and Godric are going to change things and it’s going to be for the better and others might not think so. She might even find out who killed the King and his son. We have arrived at the battle room and we find the Queen talking to her head guard. They seem to be deep in conversation, because neither of them has noticed us come in and it’s not until Ednod coughs do they turn around, startled slightly.   “I wonder what they were talking about.” I say through the link to Selaria and Irinduma.   “I don’t know, but I’m very curious.” Irinduma says through the link.   The Queen and her head guard Kane look at each other quickly and then walk towards us quickly. The Queen wearing a blue gown with gold Flur de lurs prints on it, a blue plain cloak and her traveling crown, which is more simple than the one that she wears when she’s at the castle addressing her people, it is gold with red gems in the middle of the five flur de lurs that are at the front and it has filigree that goes around the back. She stops in front of Selaria looking questioning at the gown that she is wearing.   “I have a crown that I’d like you to wear.” Is all the Queen says, looking over at her head guard Kane again.   “Sure.” Selarai says looking at both Irinduma and myself and asks through the link. “What is wrong with what I’m wearing?”   “No, there is nothing wrong with what you are wearing, you look lovely.” Irinduma says and I nod my agreement.   Kane produces a tiara from a wooden box. It’s gold and the front looks like they are twigs or branches pointing to the sky.   Now I understand why the Queen had been looking at her dress, it seems to all match, and judging by the silent laugh through the link, both Selaria and Irinduma have also noticed.   “You will wear this every time we leave the castle, please keep it in the box in your quarters when you are home.” The Queen says, putting the tiara onto Selaria’s head.   “Ok, do you want me to put the box in my room now?” Selaria asks after the Queen finishes putting it on her.   “No, it’ll be here when we get back, and I’ll show you where to put it.” The Queen says looking Selaria over.   “Shall we go?” Kane asks bringing the Queen’s attention away from Selaria.   “Yes.” The Queen says to him and then to Selaria. “Follow me and just do what I do, but if you’re unsure, just stand beside me and stay silent and you can ask me anything when we are in the carriage.”   “Is she serious?” Selaria asks through the link. Both Irinduma and I felt that she wasn’t happy about being told what to do and to stay silent. But I understood why the Queen wanted her to do it, Selaria needed to learn from her and watching and just being silent is how the Queen learnt.   “But I’m not her.” Selaria growled through the link.   “No, but try doing it her way today, and maybe on the way back ask if you can do it differently or your way next time.” Irinduma says through the link.   “Sure, let’s go.” Selaria says outloud.   Even though there is a little attitude in there I know she tried to keep it out. But judging by the Queens face, she isn’t happy with how Selaria said it. I turned into a dog with a horses tail and stood between Selaria and the Queen, which surprised everyone.   “Fine, this way.” The Queen says recovering quickly and turning and walking toward the door, and walking out, not wanting to see if Selaria is following.   I turn to Selaria and nudge her to follow the Queen and her guards.
