"What did you say?" Jong Ji asked in disbelief.
"You and your mother have been expelled to Drakoniks island," The patriarch repeated lightly.
Jong Ji's legs felt weak, and he fell to the ground. His vision blurred as the previous words of the patriarch rang in his head.
"Why?" He unconsciously asked.
The patriarch said while his expressionless face remained unchanged: "I already told you. The kid named Quin Qi awakened full potential class, and as a condition to join the Qin clan, he asked me to expel you and your mother to Drakoniks island."
Jong Ji quickly came to himself. "Why!? I asked you why would Quin Qi request such a thing!?" He shouted.
"Watch your tone! You are in the..." Qin Zhiyou shouted in anger.
The patriarch raised his hand, and Qin Zhiyou went silent immediately.
"He awakened trash class. But knowing his personality, he would want to remain friends with me. However, how could I, a genius, be a friend with such a dirty low life? I do not want him to bother me, so expel him to the Drakoniks island." The patriarch said coldly. "Those were the exact words of Quin Qi."
"Impossible!" Jong Ji shook his head. His body started trembling, and he fell to his knees.
"Nothing is impossible." The familiar voice came from afar. It was Quin Qi.
Jong Ji jumped back at his feet. "Quin Qi, why? We have treated you so well!"
"The reason has already been told. Believe it or not, it's not my problem". There was only coldness in Quin Qi's voice.
"Ungrateful bastard!!" Jong Ji raised his hand in a fist and rushed toward Quin Qi.
"Huh!" Quin Qi smirked and suddenly dashed forward. He was fast.
Jong Ji's heart skipped a beat. "So fast!" he muttered.
Puff!
Before he was even able to react, Quin Qi punched him in the abdomen.
Blarghhh!
Jong Ji fell on his knees again and vomited.
"Hahaha!" Quin Qi began to laugh mockingly and said in a mocking tone. "Jong Ji, did you see? The difference between a genius and trash. The difference between us!"
'Ohh!' Even the patriarch was surprised. 'Truly deserves to be a full potential class! It gave him so much boost in strength without even cultivating.' The patriarch smiled satisfyingly.
Quin Qi turned to the patriarch. Seeing his smile, Quin Qi smiled at the patriarch and nodded.
The patriarch nodded in return, and they turned to leave.
Before leaving, Quin Qi said:
"Ji, blame yourself for being annoying that your dear mother is about to die. Also, pay my respects to aunt Niu, and say to her, "You have given birth to useless trash" Hahahahah!"
The patriarch waved his hand, and Quin Qi rose in the air. Then Qin Zhiyou and the patriarch rose in the air, and finally, all three flew away.
Time passed, and Jong Ji knelt in the square for hours.
"Thrash! Useless! Your mother is going to die. hahaha!" Those words rang in Jong Ji's head for hours.
It was already late when he got up and started walking back.
The moon was bright, lighting his way.
He walked for a long time before he arrived in front of a small house with a separate building next to it.
The light was coming from the house.
This house was the only house in the neighborhood with the lights on at such late hours.
Jong Ji opened the door.
He did not even get the chance to enter the house when a figure jumped on him and hugged him.
"Mom!" Jong Ji said softly, hugging his mother back.
"Silly child, what took you so long?! You almost gave me a heart attack!" His mother shouted at him while tightly holding him in her arms.
His mother wore worn-out traditional Chinese clothing. The upper part was dark green, and the lower part was brown. It should have been pretty decent when it was new.
Tiredness overshadowed her beauty.
"Where is Quin Qi?" She let go of Jong Ji and confusingly looked around.
Her heart tightened when her eyes fell on her son's face. Tears were constantly streaming down his cheeks.
"What's wrong?!" She asked panickily.
Tears were constantly coming out of Jong Ji's eyes.
"H, He awakened a class with full potential." Jong Ji said through tears.
"Then why are you crying? You should be happy!" His mother said with a bright smile on her face.
"He expelled us to the Drakoniks island."
The moment Jong Ji said this, the expression on his mother's face immediately changed. Her face darkened.
"D, Drakoniks island?" Her body trembled slightly.
"Um!" Jong Ji just nodded.
"W, Why?" She asked in disbelief.
"Sorry, mom, it's all because of me. He said I would bother him in his training, and he did not want to be friends with low life, so it is just better to expel me."
"It turns out we have lived with a snake all those years!" His mother angrily said.
"Come here." His mother pointed at the bed.
The house only had three rooms. The living room, the room probably where Quin Qi resided, and there was another room, but its door was closed.
An old green carpet covered the whole floor in the living room. There was also a double bed and one table with three chairs.
On the table was a long spouted ceramic pot with four little ceramic cubs beside it.
There was a drawer chest near the bed with three drawers. Judging by the looks of it, it was homemade.
"Come here." His mother said tremblingly, pointing at the bed.
Jong Ji moved, his mother closed the door behind him, and both headed to the double bed.
Jong Ji sat on the bed. Clean white bedding covered the bed, and there were also two brown pillow blocks.
His mother took a chair and placed it before the bed.
She then placed the ceramic-long sprouted pot on the chair and poured water into one cup.
She gave it to Jong Ji to drink a little water and calm down. While Jong Ji was drinking the water, she took a handkerchief from the middle drawer and gave it to Jong Ji.
Jong Ji placed the cup on the chair and took the handkerchief.
"Sniff!"
His mother sat beside him on the bed and poured water into the cup again, but she drank the water this time.
"Jong Ji, are you alright? She asked gently.
Jong Ji just nodded. "Mother, what place is the Drakoniks island?" He finally asked.
Although he knew nothing about Drakonis island and it was his first time hearing about this place, he knew it was not a good place.
"The Drakoniks island is...Sigh!" She let out a heavy sigh as she rubbed her brows. "From what I know, it is very complicated. While some regard Drakoniks island as the territory of the Xonshi continent, others do not regard it. But one thing is certain. The Drakoniks island is the most dangerous place on the Xonshi continent."
"Mother, why does someone regard Drakoniks island as part of the Xonshi continent and some don't?" Jong Ji asked in confusion.
"They do not regard it as a part of the Xonshi continent because it's so dangerous that every attempt to immigrate the island failed."
"How is that possible, mother?" Jong Ji asked, more confused than before.
After all, isn't Drakoniks island just another piece of land? How dangerous can it be?
Maybe he would have believed it before, but not now. Not when he had seen the terrifying vortex cloud and the speed of those cultivators, their strength.
Can such strong cultivators from all Four Major Clans not conquer an island?
"Jong Ji, do you know the cultivation realms?" His mother asked gently, placing his arm into hers.
"Mm," Jong Ji nodded.
"Good. Can you tell mother which is the strongest realm?"
"Mortal realm, Spirit, Nirvana, and Heaven realm. The Heaven realm should be the strongest."
"So it was called the Heaven realm." His mother muttered.
"Why do you ask?" Jong Ji asked curiously.
"There was a rumor once. The rumor was that a magical forest covered almost the whole of Drakoniks island. However, at the center of Drakoniks island, there is a lake. When the cultivators from the Four Major Clans reached the lake, they were about to celebrate the triumph and conquering of the Drakoniks island. However, then the water in the lake became restless, and a hundred meter-tall dragon-serpent rose from the water..." His mother paused.
"Mother, what happened next?" Jong Ji asked with a tight heart. After all, he would go to the place where that dragon-serpent resided.
"This rumor was going around when I was still a kid, so it is hard to remember the details."
"I see." Jong Ji lowered his head, and his heart tightened even more.
"However, I remember that some said the dragon serpent was a being with power above Heaven realm," His mother let go of Jong Ji's hand. "Alright, it is late, sleep. I am sure they will come early tomorrow to take us."
As she stood from the bed, Jong Ji could see the deep sadness in his mother's eyes.
She did not care if she died, but her son was still young.
The same was for Jong Ji. He did not care if he died, but his mother had a tough life ever since his father died. She raised him alone and walked through all kinds of hardships in life, yet to end like this, expelled because of him. The thought of his mother dying in such a place saddened him.
Jong Ji lay on the bed and closed his eyes.
Creak!
He was lying on his side, with his back facing his mother. However, he heard the door opening and his mother closing the door from outside.
He was left alone in the house.
As soon as his mother left, he turned and lay on his back. He placed his hand on his eyes, covering the tears.
All the memories he had with Quin Qi passed through his mind. But no matter how hard he thought, he could not remember where he and his mother mistreated Quin Qi.
What did they do to deserve to expel them?
The hours passed with those thoughts on his mind. Eventually, he could not resist the tiredness and fell asleep.
