Chapter 2

MATTEO P.O.V I had to survey one of the rural human villages because some rogues had been spotted there well it was actually supposed to be Leonidas doing this but because he's too 'almighty' I had to do it (hint the sarcasm) . I caught the faint scent of a rogue and I traced it to a river but just as I reached there I saw an arm slump into the water quickly. My instinct kicked in and I immediately jumped In the river to save whoever was drowning. As I dragged the person out of the river, I realized it was a girl. I examined her, she had midnight blue hair almost black. Her long eyelashes fanned her cheek bones. I couldn't see her eyes because they were closed. oh no!, she was dying and I was here gawking at her. "What do I do," I chanted like a mantra in my head while panicking. "Calm down, Just give her CPR" my wolf Finn growls at me in my head saying the word CPR begrudgingly, this wasn't his mate so he didn't really want to do it. I knew that he felt the need to protect her just like I did, I didn't know why because she was just a total stranger to me. I bent down and after giving her CPR she got up quite dramatically spitting water on my face and that is what I got for saving her life. As I rubbed the water off my face I saw her looking at me bewildered. I mean why wouldn't she be bewildered I was hot, she probably hadn't seen anyone as good looking as I am. Now that she was awake I looked at her better this time, she had emerald green eyes, high cheekbones, she was gorgeous. Too gorgeous, she was more gorgeous than any werewolf I had ever seen. Thinking of that I realized I hadn't picked up a human scent from her, or was it faint because she was just in the water, she didn't smell like a wampire or werewolf, no creature I had ever met. But she had a scent. I could smell it. Usually werewolves would hate the scent from any being except from their mate and I knew for a fact that she wasn't my mate. Is she a witch? No she didn't smell like one and witches can't change their scent to nothing, they can only block it. Who was she? Or rather What is she? . This time I examined her body. She looked frail and weak. She looked like she hadn't eaten in days. She continued to look at me like I was a puzzle that she was trying to solve. When she finally snapped out of her trance she akwardly waved at me and said , "Hi" . We sat there in awkward silence until she asked me the million dollar question that forced thoughts into my mind. "Why'd you save me? " she asked me. I looked at her like she was crazy, I mean you see someone drowning, Why wouldn't you save them, I decided to play it cool. "Why not, " I said to her in my bad boy voice. But if it were other girls they would be flustered but she wasn't other girls because she gave me a weird look. "I'm guessing you're not from this village, " She stated not really asking. I nodded my head to answer her. "No wonder, " she replied sadly. She looked hungry and the grumbling of her stomach proved it, but she didn't seem fazed by that. "Where are your parents,? " I asked her. Something in her brain seemed to have clicked and she quickly stood up looking panicked. "Thank you so much for saving me, Bye, " She said running to the opposite direction of the path I followed. I akwardly waved her Goodbye. She wasn't acting like someone who was just knocking at the door of death. This seemed almost normal for her. She was a mystery to be solved by me. I had to get going. Ah i almost forgot what I was here for. Oh Gosh I lost the Rogue Scent. Leonidas won't be happy with this. I decided to move in further to the village to survey the areas. But in truth I just wanted to figure out who she was and if everyone in the village had no normal scent. I walked in to the village, it was lively despite how small it was, I picked up the scent of witches, what were they doing in a human village. I wasn't really surprised because witches liked to mess with humans because they were easier prey to them and the worst part is that the humans wouldn't have any idea that witches live among them, messing with their lives. I decided to go further into the village, I was surprised that people weren't really staring at me. They didn't do as much as giving me a second glance. I smelt rogues, what were they doing here. I followed the scent and it lead me to a clearing with nothing. How did their scent disappear. I heard paws behind me, I quickly turned around and dodged the attack. I looked at the rogue, it was bloody, it looked crazed. It was rare that rogues were alone. It was a male. He looked like a pup. I didn't want to hurt him for that reason, I would just take him in for interrogation. I was glad I always had wolfsbane syringes. I always carried the weakness of every creature on me because you would never know which circumstance you could find yourself in. As the rogue charged towards me, I quickly dodged trying not to hurt him. What would drive a rogue to madness like this. I was in human form verses a wolf. It wasn't fair but still I was stronger than a pup. As it jumped towards my neck to bite it. I quickly stabbed wolfsbane into its body and it slumped down immediately, showing how weak it was. It shifted back into a boy he looked not a day above sixteen. He was a handsome young fellow besides the scar on his face. I heard rustling in the bushes and took off my shirt and put it on his body that was naked. My shirt was like a gown for him. I went towards where the rustling was heard. I walked through the bushes and couldn't believe what I saw. I rubbed my eyes hoping I was hallucinating but I wasn't.
