After the interview concluded, Augustina left the building with a mix of relief, anticipation, and emotions. She felt relieved to have performed well at the interview and she held onto the hope that securing the secretarial position would bring her one step closer to providing with her ailing mother, Mrs. Evelyn Brooks, with the best medical care possible. Augustina, whose heart was filled with appreciation because of her mother's steadfast support, also seized a moment to be hopeful of a more promising future, one she was resolute about shaping, not only for her own sake, but also to ensure her mother's welfare. Taking a breath of relief, she resumed her path, aware that her life might stand on the brink of a profound transformation. Upon seeing a park close by, she took a seat in a quiet spot amidst the busy city. She reached for her phone and called her mother, who was her constant source of inspiration and support, feeling a sense of relief and hope. Using a cheerful, upbeat voice. "Mom, I had a great interview. They must have liked me. Robert Joe, the business's owner, might employ me!" Augustina's mother was ecstatic and proud. "Oh, sweetheart! That's fantastic news. You'll succeed. I've always known that. I'll remember to pray for you. Augustina was moved by what her mother said. "I'm grateful, Mom. To me, your prayers are so very important. I will notify you as soon as there are any updates. I adore you." Upon arriving home, Augustina approached her mother's room, her heart filled with a mixture of excitement and anxiety. She found her mother in her usual spot, a relaxation armchair very close to the window. Mrs. Brooks was frail, her health having deteriorated over time, but her eyes were still active and very bright with love and warmth as she saw her daughter's return. Augustina was received by the heartfelt and welcoming atmosphere of their small but cozy apartment. The aroma of her mother's favorite homemade delicacy filled the air and the soft sound of country music played in the background. Mrs. Brooks had been listening to the music and taking her time to prepare the meal as she eagerly awaited her daughter's return. "Augustina, my dear, how did the interview go?" Mrs. Brooks asked with a smile filled with hope, her voice tinged with a hint of great concern. Augustina moved closer, knelt beside her mother, and took her hands into her own. "It went very well, Mom," she replied, her eyes reflecting her determination. "I believe I gave a positive impression at the interview. I'm trying everything I can to ensure I take good care of you. You deserve the best." Mrs. Brooks squeezed her daughter's hands and nodded in agreement with her, with tears of gratitude very obvious in her eyes. "You've always been my source of hope, my child." she whispered, and love could be felt in her voice. "I know you will make a difference, my child. You are going to make a better future for us both." The bond that united them was a strong one, and it was the love shared between mother and daughter that was responsible for Augustina's determination and willingness to succeed. "How do you feel today, Mum?" Augustina asked her mother, as though she had an automatic cure for the ailment. "I feel better today. Knowing that you are here has also given me great relief. Thank you my child", Mrs Evelyn Brooks said with all enthusiasm. As they lived a simple life together, they both had it in mind that, whatever challenges lay ahead, they had each other's reliance and the unshakable belief that their love and resilience could overcome any obstacle in life in the future. Augustina's journey was not only about fulfilling her dreams but also about catering to her beloved mother with the care, comfort, and happiness she deserved. Later that evening, as Augustina lay down in the quietness of her room, she couldn't help but keep pondering and wondering about the man who had suddenly become her potential boss. She wondered about the enigmatic personality who had stirred up a fire of connection within her and she found herself actively but unknowingly thinking about what the future might hold. Augustina knew fully well that their worlds were vastly different, as the sky is to the ground, but couldn't help but wonder as the memory of their encounter had left her with a sense of curiosity, hope, and a growing desire to learn more about him who had unexpectedly entered her life. In the quietness of her room, she unintentionally dreamt of what the future might bring, even as she reminded herself of the role of destiny in playing the plans it had in store for her.
