Prequel - The Witching Hour

606 Words
Once upon a time, Alice Star walked confidently through the darkened alleyways of the city, her heart racing with excitement and anticipation. She had been planning this moment for weeks, carefully selecting the location and preparing the necessary materials for her ritual. Her long blonde hair cascaded down her back in gentle waves, swaying with each confident step she took. The deserted parking lot on the outskirts of town was the perfect spot for her ritual. In the distance, an abandoned warehouse stood tall and imposing, its darkened windows staring back at her like unblinking eyes. Alice knew that this was a place of power, a place where she could perform her magic undisturbed. She stepped into the circle of stones that she had carefully arranged earlier, each one covered in symbols and runes that glowed in the light of the moon. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath, feeling the magic of the circle enveloping her like a warm embrace. She knew that the magic of the circle would protect her, shielding her from the outside world as she called upon the forces of nature. With a whispered incantation, Alice began to draw upon the elements of earth, air, fire, and water, using her innate magical abilities to command the power of the universe. Her magic was strong, and it crackled in the air around her like lightning, sending chills down her spine. She poured her heart and soul into the ritual, focusing all of her energy on her ultimate goal. As she completed the ritual, a figure emerged from the shadows, his footsteps echoing softly in the darkness. It was a man, tall and handsome, with piercing blue eyes that sparkled in the moonlight. He wore a suit that was both stylish and refined, and his hair was neatly combed back. Alice smiled, knowing that she had summoned him with her magic. She had been searching for this man, this wealthy businessman, for many years, and now she had finally found him. The man's eyes flickered with interest. "What do you want from me?" he asked, his voice smooth and confident. "I want your help," Alice replied, stepping closer to him. "There is a magical object, hidden in a far-off land, that can reverse time. I want to find it, and I need your resources to do so." The man raised an eyebrow, intrigued by Alice's proposal. "And why would I help you with something like that?" he asked, a hint of skepticism in his voice. "Because," Alice said, her voice low and seductive, "with the power of that object, we could do anything. We could go back in time, change the course of history, make ourselves rich and powerful beyond our wildest dreams." The man considered her words for a moment, his gaze never leaving her face. Then he nodded slowly. "I see. And what's in it for me?" Alice smiled, knowing that she had him hooked. "Imagine the possibilities," she said, her voice laced with excitement. "We could be gods, ruling over all of time and space. And with your wealth and my magic, nothing would be beyond our reach." The man chuckled, amused by Alice's enthusiasm. "You're a very persuasive woman, Alice. I think we can do business. But first, we'll need to assemble a team. We'll need experts in archaeology, history, and magic. And we'll need to be prepared for anything." Alice nodded eagerly, her mind already racing with possibilities. "I know just the people to call," she said. "We'll leave tomorrow, under cover of darkness. The journey will be dangerous, but the reward will be worth it."
