"They are back.”
Amari, my Beta informed me and my lips curved into an half smile. Slowly, I opened my eyes and took a deep breath. The moon was out and its illuminating light illuminated my room. Gently, I tilted my head to look at him and he bowed.
Pulling my knuckles together, I heard it c***k. I was finally going to have what I wanted.. the revenge I finally wanted.
“They are in the field.” He responded and walked after me, as I made my way out of the room, down to the garden. I had been a bit worried when I hadn’t seen them in a while but I was grateful to know they had returned.
From a distance, I could see the confusion amongst the guards. Perhaps, they felt bad for returning quite late.
“My Lord...” They crouched to the floor the moment they saw me and I could tell something was amiss.
“Where is she?” I questioned and tightened my fist. They seemed quite sober and.. sorry.
They were mute for a while and stared at each other.
“Answer me!” I roared as I hoped it was nothing but a joke. A stunt.
“We... we are sorry, my Lord but she.... she escaped. “ One of them spoke and a new surge of anger rushed through my body. It was quite worrisome and annoying.
“What... what do you mean she escaped? What do you mean? How can a fragile daughter of a Beta escape your grip? How can she escape from the four of you?” I questioned once again and stared at my Beta who was equally confused.
“We are sorry, my Lord but.... I don’t know. It just happened. “One of them spoke. Disappointment couldn’t do justice to how I felt that very minute.
“You all helped her escape, didn’t you? You planned this! You averted her death, didn’t you?” I questioned, searching each of their faces for answer.
“Not at all! We didn’t help her. She asked to ease herself and.. she ran away.” They spoke and I shook my head. Of course, that was the most disappointing thing I had ever felt in my entire life. I had never imagined all I had waited for and planned for years would fail just like that.
I let out a sigh and turned my back to them.
“Lock them all up. They die by tomorrow night but till then, I want the truth from them.” I ordered my Beta and he nodded. I returned to my room, upset and frustrated. It was just a crime that was beyond difficult to forgive.
Sleeping became too difficult for me and instead, I decided to take a cool shower. Taking off my robe, I stared at my reflection in the mirror and I was filled with so much anger as I stared at the scars. The scars Adrien had caused me.
I shook my head and headed to the bathroom, a gazillion thoughts running through my mind all at the same time. I headed back to where the guards were locked up. Shocked to see me, they all stood up and bowed.
“Where is she?” I questioned; anger evident in my face. I couldn’t give up so easily.
“Believe us, my Alpha... we would not dare to lie to you. It was quite strange that she escaped but we do not know how she did. She deceived us and....”
“Enough!” I yelled immediately. My breathe was quite on the heavy side as I stared at them and immediately, stripped off my shirt. They gasped as they stared at me.
“These scars...” I gritted my teeth and clenched my fists. “...was caused by that man. That man and his family ruined me! they ruined my life! I have waited.... I have waited for years till this moment. I have been able to deceive him into believing there was an alliance and his daughter whom... I could use to exert my revenge... you let her go?” I questioned.
“We are loyal till the end, my Lord. We would never lie to you. We would never deceive you.” One of them begged.
“My Lord..” Mavin bowed immediately.
“Tell me the truth right now!” I yelled again and they trembled in fear. “Where is she? Were you paid? Were you hired? I want to know where she is.” I responded and their narrative still didn’t change. Angrily, I walked out and ensured they were tied up. I had to extract the truth anyhow.
“My Lord, I know it does sound ridiculous but... I think they are saying the truth.” He spoke and I halted and with a frown, I tilted my head to look at him. “Forgive me, my Lord. I know it is quite strange for a woman to escape from the guards but.... Beta Redin isn’t so weak of a man. He could definitely have trained her so well. She is his only daughter and only child and I am certain he would have trained her so well.”
His words made my blood boil. What on earth was he saying?
“Could she be more powerful than my men whom I have trained for so long?” I questioned and he was quiet. I scoffed and shook my head. “I would like to see how powerful she is.” I responded and turned to look at him.
“Prepare my horse. “
“Are you travelling by morning?” He questioned.
“I am travelling tonight... I am going in search of her.” I informed him and he halted in surprise.
“Isn’t it too late, my Lord?” He questioned. “How many guards are we leaving with?” He questioned. and I leave alone. I shall return when I find her. Keep an eye over the pack and... exile those guards.” I ordered and returned to my room. A couple of seconds later, I headed out and mounted my horse. Mavin tried to stop me but my mind was indeed made up. I had to find her and bring her back.

Standing still was beyond difficult at the news I had heard. Staying back would only put me in danger although I had no idea who they were and where they had picked me from but I knew I had to leave quickly.
I pretended to be asleep and waited till they were out of the room.
