~Harmony
I spent the whole of the night all by myself as I did not want to see or talk to anyone. If they could sell me out, then it didn’t matter anymore. I was so scared of the truth being exposed. That night was the longest night I had ever experienced as I watched the clock tick slowly.
My mind was made up not to say anything to anyone, not even the maids. I didn’t want any parting words to them but on second thought, I returned to Father and embraced him.
Of course, I could see the sorrow and sadness embedded in his eyes even though he tried to hide it.
“I know the truth. “I whispered into his ears and his eyes widened, causing a wry smile to form on my face.
My ‘mother’ on the other hand stood still, watching us, and my ‘sister’ at a distance alongside her ‘mate’.
I scoffed and shook my head before walking with the guards who had come to get me. The Alpha didn’t deem it fit to be around and of course, the ceremony was going to be held at his place. I had no idea how he would feel when he got to know his bride had been replaced.
The ride to Alpha Stone’s pack was quite hectic.
The journey seemed longer than I expected and all through the ride, all I thought of was an escape route. Running away would be quite difficult as the carriage I was in was heavily guarded.
“Hold on for a couple of minutes... I need to... pee.” I managed to say, my heart racing as I wished and hoped I would be able to find a way to escape. A sigh escaped my lips although I was quite scared and worried, as I was let out of the carriage. No sooner had I been let out when I began to run.. deep into the woods.
I was however forced to a halt and a shriek forced its way out of my mouth as I tumbled down the hills and that.. was all I remembered.

“She is awake.”
The voice sounded quite faint but I could tell it was a female. Struggling to open my eyes, reality dawned on me. Although I was still quite dizzy and felt pain in every part of my body, I had to be vigilant.
It didn’t take long before everything that happened before I tumbled down the hill found its way to my memory. Well, that was all I remembered.
I widened my eyes in shock as I looked around. Nowhere seemed familiar. Had I been able to escape? Had I been caught and prepared to be sold? I had no idea of what had happened but somehow, something didn’t seem right.
“Oh.. that’s great.” A masculine voice joined and this time, my blurry vision became clear. I had no idea who it was but something seemed off with them. I was certain it wasn’t the Alpha’s place. It was a poorly constructed piece of wood which seemed like a housing.
“Who…..who are you? What am I doing here?” I questioned, staring at them both suspiciously. The woman stared at me and then at the man and they both walked out, leaving me all alone by myself. It was weird and no matter how hard I tried to remember all that happened, it just couldn’t.
Seconds rolled into minutes and minutes into hours yet no one came. I was quite weak but I still tried so hard to force my way but it ended up being futile. It was shocking how my life had taken such a twist in just a day. If anyone had told me that would be my new reality, I would have fought for my life.
After what seemed like forever, the woman walked in again, with a smile etched on her face.
“You didn’t give me a response ..” I reminded her as she served me a meal. “Who are you and what are you doing here? Why am I here? Who are you? I…I am confused.” I arched my brows and stared at her in surprise. She was quite beautiful and youthful too.
“Well…. You should have your meal first.” She responded.
“I cannot eat anything from a stranger. I do not know who you are. Is the food poisoned? Did you save me? Did you rescue me? Was I abducted? I want to know the truth.” I pleaded with her but she let out a sigh.
“I have nothing to say to you. I am sorry but…I am nothing but a maid.” She responded. It just did not seem to make any sense to me at first. What on earth was she talking about?
I looked at the meal and then at her but she let out a wide smile.
“Trust me, I know what you are thinking but the food isn’t poisoned. My boss wouldn’t even think of doing such.” She assured. Although I wasn’t so certain of what she had said, I decided to take the risk. I was going to die of hunger anyway.
As soon as she was out of the room, I began to hear as my insides raged. Although I still wasn’t comfortable being there, I consumed my meal and lay gently on my side. Sleep eluded me and I pretended to be deep into sleep when I heard the door push open. I fought the strong urge to open my eyes as I wanted to know who was there and what their motive was.
The sole of the man's shoe on the marble floor drew my attention to him even though I could not see him.
“I would implore you we wait till morrow so the bruises can heal and then, she will…be ready for sale.” The woman who had earlier visited, announced.
