Running into doom

~Harmony A couple of seconds after I was sure I heard them leave, I sat up and tried to figure out what to do. Of course, it was quite late but the silliest thing to do at that moment would be to stay back and be sold like I was a slave. Wanting to know who they were didn’t matter anymore and in a couple of minutes, I was able to find an escape route. Running without sparing a glance behind me, I ran as fast as I could, my whole body trembling out of fear. The last thing I wanted to do was to stay back there and wallow in pain. Despite being weak, I struggled so hard to keep running. “There she is! Get her!” I suddenly heard someone yell and my heart thumped even more. I knew escaping wouldn’t be so easy but I never expected to be caught so soon. “Stop her!” I heard the voice yell. My legs had begun to give in to weakness but I trudged even further and deeper into the woods. “Stop right there! Now, that you have the chance!” I heard a man yell. Maybe… just maybe… if I hadn’t hearkened to a part of me that urged me to look back to see my tormentors, I would have been free but I did turn to see them. I was so overwhelmed with a whole new level of fear that I turned to proceed, I tumbled and fell… again. Luckily, this time, I got up and continued to run but my strength was failing me. A little hint of hope lit up in my heart when my gaze landed on a man on a horse from a distance. I wasn’t sure of making the same decision to trust my heart towards the stranger. The last time I heeded to my heart, it got me bruised. I however decided to trust it as I ran towards the horse and its owner. My vision had gotten blurry but I decided to give life one last chance. “Save me,” I spoke before I could get a chance to look at him and shut my eyes in defeat. *** The beautiful aroma of mushroom soup filled my nostrils, causing me to sniff it in and open my eyes. I was yet in another environment although this new location seemed to be quite better than the last. My head began to hurt all over again. I was clueless about how I had gotten in there but one thing was certain, I remembered I had asked a total stranger for help. Had he saved me? Was I in a new place? What on earth was going on? I stood up from the bed and opened it but I immediately halted and returned to my space as I heard the door lock click. “I saw you. You were trying to escape, weren’t you?” A deep masculine voice came and I turned to look at the face. The voice was melodious to my hearing but it wasn’t as awe-dropping as the figure standing right in front of me. I was startled and all I could do was stare at the man. I shook my head immediately. The last thing I could do was fall in love with my captor. “Who are you?” I questioned, gawking at him. It was difficult to take my eyes off him. He scoffed and raised his brows as he stared at me like I had lost my mind. “I… I do not know what you want from me and why you want to sell me but you can’t! I do not know how you got to….” “Unfortunately…” He started, cutting me short. “You have been bought.” He announced. A gasp escaped my lips as I stared at him. He suddenly looked unattractive to me and I despised him immediately. “I….I cannot be bought. It is not a decision you can make… you have to… get a refund and let me go!” I responded and went on my knees. “Please… please, set me free… I cannot stay here….” I pleaded. “My Alpha bought you and… it is not in my place to discuss anything with you.” He spoke and stared at me from head to toe. He wasn’t the Alpha? “I hope you are worth the price.” He scoffed and stared at me. “ Anyway…. You should have your meal. My Alpha is on a trip and he wants you to be well fed so… “ He clapped and almost immediately, several maids with trays of food in their hands walked into the room and placed them on the table. They bowed to him and walked out immediately. “If you aren’t the Alpha….” I started and looked up at him. “Who then are you?” “Your focus should be on your meal and… yes, there is no escape route. Everywhere is heavily guarded so attempting to escape would only get you into more trouble. I am telling you this because.. the Alpha would not warn you.” He threatened. “This isn’t a threat… it is a warning. Trust me, you would not want to see what happens when you disobey my Lord.” He added and headed for the door. I was quite confused and stared at him while he headed for the door. “Can I meet your Alpha?” I stood up. “I want to speak to your Alpha. “ “It is not in your place to demand a meeting with the Alpha. The Alpha would call for you if he wants to. Also, I know you are a spy..” “A spy? No.. not at all. I am not a spy, I….” “Beta Amari..” A maid placed a knock on the door. His gaze was well as mine diverted to her immediately and she bowed. “The Alpha has returned… Alpha Stone has returned.” She announced. He nodded and walked out immediately. I staggered backward as I wasn’t sure I had heard right. The one man I had been running from…. Bought me? Was this my fate?
