15 Later when I finally reached Megan by phone she reluctantly agreed to see me claiming exhaustion, but responded to my need to see her. She agreed to pick me up at the office and meet briefly for a drink, after which she would return home to put her dragging body to sleep. I finished with my last patient at six but she didn’t arrive until almost seven.
