21 I was awakened by a dream where I was sitting on the shore, reading a book on ethics by Aristotle, when I heard a woman scream. Dropping the book, I jumped up and dashed to the edge of the water, peering in the direction of the sound. But the screams seemed to come both from the left and the right of me, far out in the distant water. I dragged a rowboat into the water and rowed with all the muster I could manage straight out to sea, between the screams, expecting to accurately veer towards the troubled woman once I observed her. Her screams were horrifying. Earth-shattering. I was convinced she would drown if I didn’t reach her in time.
