Chapter 16 “Your grandson? Connor’s your grandson?” She grinned and patted my cheek, then walked away, leaving me staring after her. A noise behind me had me spinning to see Connor running a large hand through his dark hair, looking sheepish. “She’s your grandma? You brought me to meet your grandma?” “Yeah,” he said slowly. “I didn’t mean for you to find out though. She doesn’t usually tell people how we know each other, choosing to let me reveal that.” The pain and disappointment that ran through me were harsher than I’d expected.
