After the day’s unexpected events, Kieran and Jade arrived back at the pack house, drawing the attention of everyone nearby. Whispers and curious glances followed them as they stepped out of Kieran’s car together.
It wasn’t every day that the future Alpha escorted an omega home, and seeing Jade with him sparked immediate intrigue among the other pack members.
Kieran cast a quick glance at Jade, noticing her flushed face as she shifted uncomfortably under the many stares. He led her inside, straight to the pack kitchen, and called over an omega. "Please get something for Jade to eat. Make sure she’s comfortable,” he instructed, his tone gentle yet firm.
Before he turned to go, Kieran looked down at Jade with a reassuring smile. “I’ll check in on you later. Just take it easy, okay?” With a quick nod from her, he left the kitchen to take a shower, needing a moment to process the day himself.
Not long after, Arin burst into the kitchen with a frantic expression. His voice dropped to a whisper as he pulled Jade aside, his worry obvious. “Jade, are you okay? I heard... I heard you came back with Kieran. That’s why you missed school?” His eyes narrowed slightly, his tone holding a hint of frustration. “And you didn’t answer your phone all day, leaving me to worry while you were... off with him?”
Jade tried to explain, reaching out to calm him, “Arin, it’s not like that. I left in a hurry this morning and didn’t even take my phone with me.”
But Arin shook his head, frustration getting the better of him. “You left with him early in the morning ? Wow! you were even in a hurry to go off with him that you forgot your phone? After how he has treated you after all this time? Jade .....” Without waiting for a response, he turned on his heel and stormed off, leaving Jade feeling helpless, her explanation left hanging in the air.
Meanwhile, in another room, Kieran sent for Lyra, Jade’s mother. As she arrived, he greeted her with a serious look. “Jade fainted at school today,” he explained. “I brought her back to make sure she’s safe, and I’d advise letting her rest rather than joining the preparations for the celebration tomorrow. Let the other omegas take over for now.”
Lyra’s brow furrowed with worry. “Was there anything... unusual?” she asked, searching his face for any signs of the truth.
Kieran’s expression remained unreadable as he shook his head. “She just seemed exhausted. I think a break will do her good.”
Satisfied, Lyra nodded before leaving to make the necessary arrangements, silently hoping that it wasn't about Amara.
