Episode 3: The Kingsley Mansion
Elena had never imagined she would step into a place like this.
The black luxury car moved slowly through the tall iron gates, and her heart began beating faster with every second that passed. The driveway stretched far ahead, lined with bright lights and carefully trimmed flowers that looked too perfect to be real.
This was Adrian Kingsley’s home.
For one year… it would also be hers.
“We’re here, Mrs. Kingsley,” the driver said politely as he opened the car door.
Elena paused before stepping out.
Mrs. Kingsley.
Hearing that name still felt strange.
But she reminded herself again—this was part of the contract.
She stepped onto the smooth stone driveway and looked up at the enormous white mansion standing before her. The building looked elegant and powerful, glowing under the evening lights like something she had only seen in movies.
The front doors opened before she could move.
A tall man wearing a neat black suit walked toward her and gave a respectful nod.
“Welcome home, Mrs. Kingsley,” he said calmly.
Elena forced a small smile.
“Thank you.”
“I am Daniel, Mr. Kingsley’s assistant,” he continued. “Mr. Kingsley asked me to prepare everything for your arrival.”
Everything.
Elena followed him inside quietly.
The moment she stepped into the mansion, she froze.
The ceiling was high and decorated with crystal lights that sparkled above her head. The floor beneath her feet shone like glass. Expensive paintings covered the walls, and fresh flowers filled the air with a gentle scent.
She suddenly felt very small in such a large place.
“This way, please,” Daniel said politely as he led her upstairs.
They stopped in front of a beautiful white door.
“This will be your room.”
Elena blinked in surprise.
“My room?”
“Yes,” he replied. “It is next to Mr. Kingsley’s bedroom.”
Her heartbeat skipped.
Next to his room?
Daniel opened the door for her.
Elena stepped inside slowly and looked around.
The room was larger than her entire apartment. Soft golden lights filled the space, and a large bed stood beside a tall window overlooking the city. The wardrobe alone looked big enough to hold everything she owned—and more.
“This is too much,” she whispered without thinking.
“Mr. Kingsley believes his wife deserves comfort,” Daniel said politely.
His wife.
She was still getting used to hearing those words.
“Mr. Kingsley will return later this evening,” Daniel continued. “Dinner will be served at eight.”
Elena nodded.
“Thank you.”
After Daniel left, silence filled the room.
For the first time since signing the contract, she was alone.
She slowly walked toward the window and looked outside. From here, the city lights looked distant and quiet. Everything felt different from the life she had lived only yesterday.
Her life had changed so quickly.
Suddenly, a calm voice spoke behind her.
“I see you arrived safely.”
Elena turned around immediately.
Adrian Kingsley stood at the doorway, watching her with the same unreadable expression as before.
“I didn’t expect you so soon,” she said softly.
“This is your home now,” he replied.
His voice sounded calm, but there was something serious in his eyes that made her nervous again.
Before she could say anything else, another voice appeared from the hallway.
“Adrian? I heard you were back.”
A beautiful woman walked into the room confidently without knocking.
She stopped when she saw Elena standing there.
Her smile didn’t disappear—but something changed in her eyes.
“I didn’t know you had company,” she said gently.
Adrian’s expression became colder.
“Elena,” he said, “this is Sophia.”
Sophia looked Elena up and down carefully before speaking again.
“I’m Adrian’s fiancée.”
