Chapter 1

When Cassie first felt a sudden heat rush over her body, she had just gone about two steps outside the door. Her senses were palpitating. No pain existed; instead, she was more conscious of everything around her. The sweetest perfume she had ever encountered was the subject of a battle between taste and smell for supremacy. She inhaled deeply as a result of the perfume, trying her hardest to suck the sweetness into her lungs and hold it there permanently. She uncomfortably bit her bottom lip as she tasted a flavor that made her mouth water. avoiding the overwhelming urge for more by doing anything else warm and lovingly, as if a hard hand were caressing her, the breeze brushed against her flesh all around her. This 'touch' had an effect on her body without her consent. She hunched her back and moaned slightly. Then, when the sensation jolted through her body all the way to her toes, almost knocking her off balance, she caught herself against the wall. Her pulse quickened. It pounded so forcefully that she thought it might completely exit her chest. The sound increased in volume and strength. It wasn't coming from her, though, so no. The heartbeat and the powerful scent came from the same direction. Before she could even process the concept of doing so, her body was already in motion. The rhythms grew louder as she drew nearer. This heart, this pulse, and this music should have hurt and driven her crazy, but instead they called to her. A lullaby that left her simply wanting to track down the owner. Her senses were being bombarded in a way that made her flush, including taste, smell, and hearing. A surge of pleasure kept surging over her, and she found herself pausing several times and bracing herself against the wall. A faint voice was shouting and screaming in the back of her head, attempting to tell her something or remind her of something. She was, however, too entranced by his flavor, aroma, and heartbeat to pay attention. All she could think of was them. Her body desired and required it.Another unfamiliar hallway was chosen by Cassie . Once more, her senses were leading her, but she knew instinctively that her destination was beyond this door. She pushed it open without thinking about it.Some sort of electronic crap that just muddled the melody of his heart was the music that reverberated off the walls. The spacious space was gloomy, with bursts of light illuminating haphazard people who she didn't want to see or care about. Cassie urgently looked for faces in the crowd. She could sense his presence. Her heart pounded violently, and she was now almost panting. "Where is he?" She reflected to herself.A flash of light was followed by another. When her eyes finally focused on him, she felt a surge of recognition and pleasure run through her entire body. Then comes bewilderment. Why doesn't it have black? She pondered this.Another burst of light hit him. Short, but with just enough length to cover one eye, dark auburn hair. She gasped as soon as his eyes briefly touched hers. Cassie staggered back, wanting to get out of the space. The fiercest blizzard to hit the northern lands was as gray as the skies preceding it. In all four packs, there was just one wolf with eyes this icy."No. No, no!" she yelled, pushing the doors wide and stumbling as they opened. She just managed to stop herself from completely hitting the ground. She quickly gathered herself and started running. As long as her lungs would allow her, Cassie ran quickly and forcefully. When she finally stopped, she stumbled heavily, bruising both knees on the stone floor under her. Her throat began to hiss as a result of the searing feeling. It was enough to get her to cry out in hot sobs. She raised her aching eyes to the blood moon shining brightly above her in the night sky. How did you behave? She murmured a terrible question, then screamed aloud. How dare you harm me!"She spoke to the moon, but the moon made no response. *** He obviously came this way, but there are too many scents now. A man cried above the sound from the dance hall. He is not within my reach."Then, by God, open your eyes! Another responded, ""There! I can see him. He is standing there! A third voice, barely audible over the music, shouted outThe tall man who stood in the middle of the crowd was the common target that the three young men were running toward. He remained motionless as the people around him rocked and jumped to the music.Even in this dim space, he was noticeable. Every time the light flashed in his direction, his auburn hair, a unique hue among most wolves, was accentuated. His big shoulders and the way his shirt clung to his torso were further contributing factors. He was simply a conduit for power. He stood out among the others."Alpha!", the third man said. He had a big build, blonde hair, and a full beard that gave him the illusion of maturity. However, his heart and age were both young. Steadily focusing on the door, the auburn man When they called to him, he remained silent and kept staring at the door.Marvin the Alpha?", the blonde man yelled as he approached.Marvin moved. His gray eyes focused once more as he briefly turned his head to stare at the blonde-haired man, appearing to be in a trance."Fred?" Did he ask?Fred responded by placing a hand on Alpha's shoulder and saying, "Yes. Are you alright? You abruptly and without warning bolted for the gateway. We nearly missed finding you here, of all places. Fred looked around, obviously curious as to why his Alpha would visit a location he generally avoided. More to himself than anyone else, Marvin said, "I assume it was the midpoint between us."He moved by Fred and took another peek up at the door. As if anticipating someone to enter at any moment, he c****d his head to the side and stared at it. "Are you holding out for anyone?" Fred inquired while also glancing at the door.He responded, remaining almost totally fixated on the door, "I think they have come and gone already. "The other Alphas will be waiting, my Alpha. One of the other men said, "We're already here later than we should be. With a nod and a signal, Marvin asked the others to follow him. Were you in a meeting? Fred remarked, "I didn't think you had anything planned beyond the things you have to go to. He questioned whether he had missed anything from Marvin's schedule."A gathering? Marvin pondered this for a second, a small grin appearing on his lips. "Yes, I guess you could say that."I typically make all your appointments, so it's strange. Fred thought, "I don't remember anyone asking to meet. "Do you anticipate the goddess confirming her schedule with you? This encounter was planned long before either of us were ever born, Marvin chuckled.Fred came to a complete stop. He was in absolute shock as he looked at his friend and commander.Your partner?" he asked. You sensed your partner's Here?"He scanned the area as though, if he could merely set eyes on Luna in the future, he would instantly recognize her."Yes.""Where's she at? Fred's delight could hardly be concealed in his voice. In his life, this was a pivotal time. to meet the future Luna and be aware that she existed. Marvin's voice was filled with dismay. It's "come and gone.""What? Still, why? As his Alpha started to accompany their pack mates out of the dancing hall, he was unable to conceal his displeasure."I'm not sure,"Fred fixed his gaze on Marvin's turning back. He had inquiries, worries, and remarks. But in the end, he was left with only one laughable notion. Inquisitively turning around, Marvin regarded Fred.Fred chuckled. "She is definitely meant to be our Luna, then."What underlying meaning does your language contain?" Marvin enquired. Fred grinned. "To think there is a woman out there who would actually run away from the glorious Alpha Marvin."Fred knew the smile on Marvin's face and the inclination of his mouth as he said, "She won't get far. His Alpha had discovered a deserving prey.Cassie had no idea how long she had sobbed or just stood there gazing up at the sky. She surmised that it had been closer to two hours than an hour. The start of the fireworks indicated that the Alphas had just finished the opening rituals for the goddess in order to seek her blessing for the next year."Blessings!" she mocked angrily to herself. The 'blessing' she had been given was nevertheless endangering her mental health. Still, he was attracting the attention of her senses. His heartbeat in her head slowed to a whisper as she detected only a faint fragrance. The tug of the mate bond subsided to a manageable level as she gave in to her need to just sit still and cry. She reasoned that Alpha Marvin was probably too preoccupied with his tasks to look for her.She kept hearing her father say, "Your duty comes before your heart," and she couldn't help but feel disappointed in him.She firmly said to herself, "No." "It's good," I said. Better if it's busier.Naturally, the fireworks suggested that this situation would soon change.
