[About 20 minutes ago] To put it mildly, the heat that pricked at the top of his skin was distracting. While the others spoke, Marvin hardly managed to maintain his attention. He would have run into issues if he had been playing any other role. Fortunately, that was not the first time. Prior to his father's passing, he had prepared Marvin for his role in the offering rituals. The smell in the air that made his mouth dry was the problem; it was the siren's call of her heartbeat. He had to grit his teeth to keep his composure due to the hot prickling on his skin."What made her leave?" he questioned. He was certain that she was in the dance club. His feelings of need, possession, and need had suddenly hit him like a bolt of lightning. He realized she had found him at that point. But he had not seen her, which was unfortunate for him."What made her leave? He pondered the same topic once more, this time with greater intensity. His attention was drawn back to the here and now by the fireworks display. He stood with the other Alphas and wished each pack good fortune and blessings for the next year. He waved and spoke the same phrases that he had already stated numerous times. Fred, Marvin's beta and closest buddy, came into view. As determined as Marvin was to find Luna, if not more so, the man appeared to be He could not help laughing. Fred looked around the crowd in an effort to find a new woman. However, Marvin was already aware that Luna was not one of these outsiders. She had escaped. He could sense their separation and didn't like it. After the ceremony, he needed to find a way to get away from the people who persisted on talking to him before he could begin hunting. A short man with curly brown hair and a broad grin came up to him and said, "Alpha Marvin, I am quite pleased to have this moment to speak with you.""Oh? Marvin's measured response was ".He tried to pretend to be amused, but he couldn't persuade himself that it was worth the effort. The short man said, still grinning, "Yes, I wanted to offer you my compliments on the way you have carried yourself this evening. How have I 'managed myself' that would merit your praise, you ask? Bored, Marvin questioned I apologize if I insulted you. I merely wanted to acknowledge your poise and generosity.Marvin's voice was steady. "To be offended, I would first need to give a damn about you." He couldn't even make out his impatience. "Get to the point or get out of my way, please."The man's mouth twitched in the corner before opening into a broad smile. But Marvin noticed. That man despised him.I just meant to congratulate you on your kind interactions with the Winter Pack, sir. You appear to have passed your misunderstandings now. The tongue used to speak kind words was frequently poisonous. In response to his long-standing resentment, Marvin's impatience caused him to growl low in his stomach. The short, happy moron in front of him instantly understood the risk.Marvin the Alpha!" Fred yelled, catching Marvin's eye. It's time to move on, I say. After giving Fred a nod, Marvin approached the man. He paused and turned to face the diminutive man once more."We'll wrap up this discussion. Soon."The short man couldn't cover up his dread from showing on his face quickly enough. As they moved forward, Fred started to mutter, "His name is—"Marvin intervened, saying, "No," "I'll remember his name when I need to. However, I just need to expose one identity for the time being. On the subsequent occasion, he told Fred to take his seat. There was no genuine reason for him to be there; it was just a recreation of the goddess blessing the wolves. More significantly, he disliked being sidetracked. The time has come to seize his victim. He followed his senses, letting them satiate that instinctual hunger in him. Her perfume awoke the wolf in him, and he felt himself drawing nearer and nearer, taking deep breaths.God forbid!"His body trembled at the sound of her voice, and he groaned aloud. In order to maintain his balance, he leaned against the wall. He then moved forward and peered around the corner. She had pulled back her sandy blonde hair. Her face was framed by strands that had already escaped the confines of her sloppy braid. Marvin questioned whether it felt smooth or rough to the touch. He yearned to reach out and take a look.Marvin scanned the rest of her body with his eyes. She wasn't tall, but he assumed she could stand on her toes and meet his gaze. She was dressed in a slim dress that was green like the trees' leaves. Even though she was wearing a long, flowing outfit, he could still sense that she was a fierce fighter. She possessed the curves that directed his attention to all the appropriate areas as well as the sturdy strength of someone who had put work into their training. preparing for the conflict that was inevitable. At the notion of seeing her put that training into action, Marvin found himself attracted to her even more. All I need to do is cancel all the events I promised my father I would go then defeat an Alpha in a 12-hour game of hide-and-seek."He grinned and said to himself, "She's funny."Oh, and he has an embedded homing mechanism for me. Great."Ha, he said to himself as he observed her annoyance. It appears that you are trying to avoid me."Cassie ?" another voice cried out.Marvin reentered the hallway. He grinned to himself, "So that's your name, Cassie ." We can play your game now, Cassie . Even better, I'll give you a head start. [Present] Marvin smiled and chuckled softly. "It seems that hide and seek is not your best game."She had lost the game because he had caught up to her. The sound of his laughter fueled the fire that was trying to consume her from within. He started moving slowly and predatorily in her direction. His proximity caused Cassie’sbody to react by making her take a quick inhale. She was unable to walk, or more precisely, her body had rejected the notion of moving in any direction other than the one that would take her right to him. He circled her, "Fascinating," he remarked. "You can certainly feel it. I'm your mate; you know that. But it seems like you're resisting. Aggressively."Cassie forced a deep swallow because she was unsure of her voice. She no longer owned her body. Every part of her beckoned to him and yearned for him. anything but her intellect."Why? He spoke softly to her neck. A small whimper that she had never heard herself produce before came from her lips.Down at her, Marvin grinned. She could feel the heat emanating from him because he was so close, but he refrained from touching her.He cruelly hissed, "Tell me."His eyes first met Cassie’swhen she turned to face him. She anticipated encountering the same level of iciness as before. Alpha Marvin was known for it, after all. Everything she knew about him was centered on the ice wall he used to defend himself from the rest of the world. Hadn't she seen it before? However, there was only warmth in those gray eyes—the type that comes from home and the assurance that she belonged there."Cassie ," he muttered. She was thrown back against her will as a wave of his voice swept over her.Cassie turned her head away from his gaze to discover her back against the wall. He was only a few millimeters away from her. Their lips were practically in contact, and his face was touched by her hand. She had no recollection of touching him. He breathed raspily and said, "Tell me your reason." Why did you escape me?""I…"She was distracted. If she merely shifted to her toes, the agonizing space between her and Marvin's mouth would be closed.Cassie , you must have had a reason. Marvin pleaded with her. I'm trying my best to restrain myself. Inform me.Her mind was racing with thoughts of wanting to brush his lips. A tear started to fall down her cheek as she sensed herself approaching him.For a while, their bond's pull diminished, allowing Cassie to sense something or someone else. She stumbled to begin, "I." She then pushed Marvin away while closing her eyes and summoning all of her strength and will. Despite tripping, Marvin managed to catch himself before he hit the ground. Cassie’sface was covered in tears when he turned to face her. He paused when he noticed the suffering in her eyes. Cassie inhaled deeply as she struggled mightily to overcome the impulse of her attachment to him and reclaim her independence. "I've already met my soul partner!" she was able to utter at last."What?" I replied, struggling to contain the growing rage in his heart. Cassie was able to support herself more uprightly at this point than she had previously been able to. She inhaled deeply once more and considered Harry."I already have a mate," she said. She was unprepared for the quickness with which Marvin approached her after growling. Once more, pushing her up against the wall, he rubbed her throat while breathing her in. I'm your partner! He barked into her throat, "Cassie could feel the need and want for him growing within her. She closed her eyes once more, trying with all her might to fend him off. But he persisted this time. Marvin didn't touch her; instead, he pressed his nose against her throat to smell her.She said, "You can't be."Why?" he asked, standing still. She swallowed as the fog of their relationship started to envelop her mind once more. Her hands were attempting to embrace him on their own, and she could feel it."Alpha Tom of the Winter Pack is my father,", she yelled. He became frozen. The phrase "Alpha Tom of Winter" was repeated in Marvin's head.He was starting to feel something familiar. He took a step back from Cassie and lowered his hands to his sides. He said, "Go."Cassie was crying as she regarded him. She was immobile."Go!", he growled. Instead of being normal, his voice was thicker, wilder, and deeper.Pushing past him, Cassie fled. As he transformed into a wolf, the last sound she heard was the echo of his bones shattering.
