CHAPTER 3 - THE ALPHA'S MATE

1135 Words
KIAN'S POV I had a relatively bad day. Waking up to the news that I was scheduled to travel to the Green Meadows Pack in New York for a meeting was enough to spoil the whole day for me. Firstly, the Green Meadows Pack was located in the suburbs of New York, a small settlement with bad road network and little technology, ruled by an old Alpha with bad breath, Alpha Darius. From my pack in East London, it was a long journey. Secondly, I knew the purpose of the meeting - collecting old debts. The Green Meadows pack owed us millions of dollars and on all three occasions I had been there to remind Alpha Darius to pay up, he had nodded and promised to 'do his best.' Thirdly and worst of all, my elder brother, Perseus was to follow me. We never agreed on anything and that summed up what I could very well describe as a catastrophic day. I had sulked all the way to New York and even up to the Green Meadows Pack as I expected nothing good to come out of the meeting, but was I wrong? Definitely. When I marched through the open doors of the grand hall, the first thing that caught my attention was her hair - blood red, just like the mages of Old England that were burned at the stake in the reign of my great grandfather. I was dying to see the face almost immediately. She would definitely make a good toy. As a master of the arts, I knew how well the red heads performed in bed. All I had to do was comport myself in an orderly manner unlike my last three visits to Alpha Darius' pack, and just maybe, I could catch the attention of the redhead. When she eventually spun around, claiming to be Alpha Darius' daughter, my heart skipped a beat. She was a goddess in a human body. Her face shone like the moon, and her deep blue eyes sparkled with a familiar glint. I could tell she was one of the stubborn ones. I derived pleasure in breaking down the stubborn ones. Her pouted lips were full and dark red, and she held her head high, just like the daughter of an Alpha would. Her eyes twinkled when she saw Perseus sitting beside me. Almost everyone reacted that way when they saw my elder brother, Perseus. He was the second of the Atherton triplets, and we were all identical. When she turned around to leave, I stopped her. "Not yet, princess," I said to her. "Take a seat with us." Alpha Darius knew me pretty well to realize that my interest in women were purely s****l and he stuttered, trying to find the best possible excuse to get his daughter out of the hall. "Violet has some duties to attend to at the moment," He explained. "The maids in the kitchen - " "Quit lying to me, Darius," I muttered, casting him a warning glance. "I know she is your daughter." "She is untouchable, Kian," Alpha Darius hissed. "You came here to talk business. No?" "Same as the last three years," I shrugged. "And you always come up with the same answer - you need more time." I paused and leaned over the table to have a closer look at him. "What if I told you that Axel asked for someone... collateral to hold unto, till you paid." Alpha Darius went on his knees at once and I could see the tears welling up in the old man's eyes. "You cannot allow Axel take my only daughter away from me," He pleaded. "She is my life. I promise I would pay up." I sighed and glanced at the gold plated watch on my wrist. "Time is one luxury I'm afraid I cannot afford anymore. I've given you more than two years, Darius." "Give me a month more," He pleaded. "I would make a few calls and pay what I owe." I caressed my chin with my fingers as I pretended to consider his offer. Of course, I was not going to give him as much as a week more even if I wanted to. My eldest brother, Axel had ordered that I came back with either the money he owed or his head. But some crazy idea was forming in my head - some crazy idea that involved his daughter, Violet. If only I could somehow convince him to let go of her... I turned to Perseus who wore a frown and I guessed he was tired of my games. "What do you think about the chick?" I asked him via a mind link. He ignored my question and I turned my attention back to Alpha Darius. "You owe three million dollars, Darius?" I eyed him. I watched as the old Alpha swallowed hard and I chuckled. "And what would you say to me if wrote off every single penny of your debt this very minute?" I asked. Alpha Darius was left spellbound. His pupils dilated and he fell on his knees with his forehead to the ground. "I would worship you, Alpha Kian - I would - " "As much as I would love that, it is not exactly what I want at the moment," I cut in. "Think of something better you can offer me." Alpha Darius raised his head from the floor slowly and when our eyes met, I smiled wryly. "You - you - you want my daughter." I chuckled at the crazed expression on his face, and when I turned my attention to Violet, her face was twisted in horror. "What is the problem, my darling?" I asked as I inched closer to her. "Do you want your father to rot in jail for unsettled debts?" Violet backed away steadily, till she got to the door of the grand hall, and I stood over her, my figure, tall and imposing. I slipped my hand through the slit of her flowing blue gown, hoping I could arouse her, but what came next was a shock to me. It took me a whole minute to realize that the ringing sound in my ears was from her slap and I held my left cheek in shock. "You slapped me." My eyes had turned blood red already and I could feel my wolf threatening to break free and tear the b***h to shreds, but someone held me back. It was my brother, Perseus and he was staring down at my hand. "Kian," He muttered. "Your hand." I stared down at my hands and I saw that they were glowing white. Just like Violet's. Both our hands were glowing white. And I knew that it could only mean one thing - She was my fated mate.
