CHAPTER 4 - SOLD TO THE CRUEL ALPHA

1055 Words
KIAN'S POV "No. No. No. This can't be possible!" My wolf purred in my head. "He's a brute, an animal - " Alpha Kian seized me by the throat and pulled me closer to himself roughly. "You know what this means, redhead?" He hissed in my ears. "You are mine already." "No, I'm not!" I cried as I tried to break free from his grip. "There is no mark and I can't be your mate! That was just some glow and it can mean - " "That you are a witch," He cut in. I stared at him, my mouth wide open. "What? I'm not a witch! They all died hundreds of years ago!" "Then you are my mate," Alpha Kian said with an air of finality. He turned to my father who was still on the floor and grinned at him. "Guess I don't need your permission anymore, Darius." "A- A- And what about my bill?" Father stammered. "Oh that," Alpha Kian smiled. "I've written it off already. We're all family now since your daughter is mine." "I am not yours!" I protested. "I will never be!" "Violet!" Father glared hard at me. "You've always wanted your mate, and now he has come, you still want to spoil things!" "He's not my mate," I cried. "He's a fraud! He must have used some spell on me." "Oh shut it!" Father growled before turning to face Alpha Kian again. "Take good care of my daughter for me. She's fragile." Alpha Kian glanced across at me and I saw the evil glare in his eyes. He definitely had no plans to take care of me. "You can count on me, Darius," He said. "I'll be taking my leave now." He grabbed me by the arm and pulled me closer to himself. "I'll complete the mating rituals when we get back to my pack, as is our usual custom," He said to Father. Father nodded slowly and I could see the tears that etched around the corner of his eyes. I knew deep down he did not want me to go. Why then was he allowing Kian take me away? Was it because of his debts? Or was there some other reason. I had noticed that in the past months, Father had been more desperate to marry me off, even to some Alphas that were not well to do. It was almost as though he just wanted me to leave the pack. "You're better off there, my daughter," He said with a sad smile. "You'll be protected." Protected? What happened to the guards that had been protecting me for the past twenty two years of my life? As Alpha Kian and his brother led me out of the palace, I felt hot tears roll down my cheeks. No one even dared to give me a second glance as we strolled past. Probably the effect of walking alongside two of the most feared Lycan figures in the world. He stopped at the door of an old Volkswagen Beetle and after a few minutes of struggling with the door, it opened. "In there, princess," Alpha Kian smiled. "Let's go see your new home." I entered into the back seat and he sat beside me, while his brother, Perseus, took his place at the front. We had not driven for more than ten minutes when he leaned over to me. At first, I thought it was for a kiss and so I shut my eyes tight. The next second, I felt his warm breath brush against the nape of my neck. "My big brother has a weird interest in vintage cars," He whispered in my ears. I didn't know what to reply to that and so I simply looked up to see that Perseus was studying me through the rearview mirror. I had barely heard him utter a word since we met and I knew that I should be wary of him, even more than I was of Kian. Kian talked a lot, and that way I could predict his next move easily. Perseus was always silent, brooding. I closed my eyes finally and drifted off into a long sleep. When my eyes opened again, we had already gotten to the pack. I had heard so much about the Black Bay Pack in East London and how developed it was, but all I had heard was still not enough to prepare me for the beautiful sight my eyes beheld. It was nightfall already and the well lit streets bubbled with excitement. Everyone seemed to be in a light mood that night; the ladies chattered on the road about their dream mate, while the men who were half hidden in some dark corners drank wine and told stories about the old war. "These are the peasants of our pack," Kian pointed at the men. I stared at the men he had called 'peasants' and I marveled. Most of them were even better dressed than my Father! The car skidded to a halt just outside a huge mansion fenced round with high golden walls and as soon as Alpha Kian opened the door, guards and maids rushed to welcome us. "My King!" Alpha Kian ignored their greetings and instead, he grabbed a fair maiden by the arm. She winced in pain as his claws bored into her skin and he drew her closer to himself. "Clean up the new girl and get her ready," He hissed in her ears. "I would claim her tonight after the ball." He threw his coat to a guard and started off, abandoning me in the car with Alpha Perseus and the maid. The maid bowed before Alpha Perseus before turning to face me. "Are you one of us?" She whispered in my ears. "I'm Alpha Kian's new bride," I muttered in response. She stared at me for a while and shook her head pitifully. "Follow me," She said. "I'll clean you up and teach you all you need to know to please the Alpha. Hopefully, you'll survive till the end of the next moon." I could feel my heart pounding in my chest as she led me into the mansion. I had been robbed of my life in one night, and now, my survival depended on how well I could please the cold hearted Alpha Kian.
