Grandpa Hooper spoke, his tone somewhat displeased. "So that's how it is. Giovanna will be a part of our family from now on. You are in no position to slander her!"
"She's just a country bumpkin..." Kimberly interrupted, scorn dripping from her words.
Giovanna cut her off with a disdainful look, "A country bumpkin wouldn't stoop to seducing someone else's husband."
Her words startled everyone present. The servants standing by began to whisper amongst themselves.
Kimberly's face instantly changed colors. "I never did such a thing!"
She tried to retort, but Bertha pulled her back, whispering urgently, "Have you no shame? Let's go..."

Bertha dragged her away, leaving in a huff.
