Together

Chapter Three “Together” About twenty minutes later we pull up outside of Sam’s apartment building. As soon as the car stops I hop out and try to run, but Sam easily catches my arm and slings me over his shoulder. “Low life piece of s**t,” I mutter. In return I get a rather harsh slap on my ass. “Watch it,” he warns. “f**k you!” “I’m planning on it, yes.” I stiffen in his hold. Would he… touch me without permission? As if reading my thoughts, he snorts. “I would never touch a woman without her consent, let alone my own mate. Calm down, baby.” “Don’t call me baby,” I warn. He heaves a sigh, walking straight through the lobby of the building. The receptionist glances curiously at him, but says nothing. “Why the f**k isn’t anyone helping? Do people no longer have common decency?” I mutter. “They aren’t helping because I own the building and evict anyone who annoys me.” He responds smoothly. Even more proof that he is a grade-A asshole. He gets into the elevator, but much to my dismay, doesn’t put me down. No, he keeps me over his shoulder until we get to his bedroom, at which point he deposits me on the bed. “Don’t move unless you want me to spank your ass red” he warns as I sit up. “Here’s the deal, baby. You are my mate. My other half, the woman I have been looking for. I understand that with how you were raised, you don’t feel the need to have a mate. But I’m not giving you an option. We are going to be together. If you run, I’ll chase you. And I will always find you, I can guarantee that. But in honesty- I do not want that to be our relationship. I want us to be close, as mates are meant to be. We’ve been put together for a reason, and I’m not letting that go. I love you, Lacey.” Well, that’s a strong proclamation. “I don’t have time for a mate, Sam! Not to mention the fact that I am absolutely not relationship material. My romantic relationships consist of pleasure. I don’t date. I take what I want from a f**k and move on. Yes, I know that’s messed up and selfish. But do I care? Not in the least.” I say. I’m being mostly honest. I do occasionally date, and I made it sound like I’ve f****d a lot of guys- which I haven’t. The number of men I’ve slept with is under 5, and I only slept with 2 of them more than once. “I can give you mind blowing pleasure” he assures, and my breath catches in my throat. “Sam, I can’t do a strings- attached relationship!” “Lacey, you don’t have a f*****g choice. I am not allowing you to leave this apartment until you accept me. We don’t need to do the complete mating ritual, but I can’t let you out with the risk of you running away.” “I won’t run” I lie. He raises his eyebrows. “I’m your mate, Lacey. I’ll be able to tell when you truly won’t run.” Fuck.
