In the middle of a blood-red scene, he stood on all fours, still not fully formed, and advanced toward me, slow and deliberate. “No, no, Aurelius, it’s me. Kaden, snap out of it, it’s me!” I shouted at him while I struggled to get to my feet. With no more enemies close by, I was the only one left in the clearing. I was scared to death when I realized my legs weren’t working; I didn’t know if it was because I’d blown all my energy at once or just from shaking with fear. He roared again and charged at me, red rage flashing in his pupils and blood still dripping from his jaws. “KADEN, SNAP OUT OF IT!” I screamed in desperation, clawing at the dirt as I forced myself to run. I was done for, he’d tear me apart
