Chapter 9

(DOMINIC'S POV)

Daniel was so gentle with Kate's wound that I wouldn't have done it without him, but I know I have to get answers. I need to know what happened to Kate and who did this.

Kate woke up just in time after Daniel finished with her wound and settled her in her bedroom.

I had suggested to Daniel that he washed Kate up and put her in her comfortable pj's, and he did just that. It's good to know that he will always take care of her.

"He threatened me," Kate says while trying to sit up, Daniel quickly helps her and puts a soft pillow under her thigh.

"You need to tell us everything," Daniel says .

Kate tells us everything and every detail she remembers, but what bothers me is that she drove alone from the park with a wound , she didn't bother calling anyone of us.

"Did you see the man's face?..."

Daniel asks, clearly worried.

"I think I might have an idea who sent him,"

They both look at me.

"It might be the Phillips guy . Your father has been gunning for their territory downtown for years now, and he was the one behind your brother's death ." I say

"Kate I think I should take you away just for a few weeks I have a place in Sweden " Daniel says without even giving Kate a time to say no , it is clear he wants to keep her safe for what's coming.

"Pack your bags. You're leaving in 3 hours. I don't want you to be here when the war begins."

(KATE'S POV)

I clearly don't have a choice but to pack, my phone pings with a notification and it's an email informing me of my documents everything is set and ready so I respond asking them to package them and send them to me.

My package will be here in an hour so I still have time to pack .

"Let me help you up," Dominic says, and I know he wants to talk to me, so we go upstairs and leave Daniel downstairs because he's on the phone making final arrangements.

"Do you think you'll be able to stay in Sweden for a few weeks while we handle stuff here?"

"I think I can handle a few weeks away from you and Daniel," I say while packing up my stuff

"Dom, you think Daniel should handle this because I think it's a bad idea stepping in family drama because of me."

"No, don't worry about it. I'll tell him to play it out in a way. Our families think he's protecting Nell,"

Well, as much as I'm not liking the idea but I think it's a pretty good one.

And I always remind myself that Daniel and I are not really dating.

(DANIEL'S POV)

After making arrangements and getting my security in Sweden, 13 hours later, we arrive, and I settle Kate in showing her my place and preparing a bath for her.

"So how are you going to do this? I'm sure my father doesn't know that I left he only knows that I was threatened."

"Don't worry I will tell you everything when it's done for now let me take care of the wound again, but if you must know I decided I won't be leaving you here alone seeing that you can't even walk properly "

Kate rolls her her knowing full well that it is just an excuse to spend more time with her.

"Also, I have a man back at home whom I trust with this side of business, so he will be working closely with your uncle,"

(Dominic's POV)

In the morning, I had to wake up pretty early and act like I hadn't seen Kate since the meeting we had with Eric.

"Seriously, Eric, didn't Kate sleep at the mansion last night?" I ask as if panicking

"No, maybe she is at one of her friend's places,"

"Eric Kate doesn't have friends, and she never sleeps out without informing me."

I know Eric can be a bustard, but to seem unfazed when your daughter is missing is one thing.

'carry on with your plan ' I text Daniel , I hope this plan of his will work cause. If it doesn't, that means there might be war bigger than this one.
