Megan would be out there soon enough. *** Megan was awake by the time Jade returned from breakfast, and was starting to feel hungry. She had to eat slowly and carefully, since eating and breathing at the same time was painful, but she got the meal down, then dismissed Jade to go about her day. Megan was going to sleep some more, hoping to wake up later with most of the pain gone. Jade went to the storehouse and spent half an hour wandering back and forth through the maze of goods looking for Megan’s and her stuff. She walked past all the sleds three times, the stained glass windows twice, and the piles of harvesting baskets four times before she finally found the stack of her own luggage. She took out one of the trunks with their summer and autumn outfits and rolled it on its large cast
