Chapter 4: The Kid, The Clothes, and the Greest Jade returned home from her lunch with Megan to begin some plans of her own. Megan’s background briefing had been all right as far as it went, but it hadn’t even touched what Jade considered the most practical aspects of the situation. Let Megan worry about the weather and the clothing, the politics and the marketing possibilities. Never mind that, according to Megan’s information, the Restaals seldom waged war and were not terribly good at it when they did. Jade’s job was still to worry about the weapons. The Restaals had no energy weapons—at least no more than the few the Furgatos “appropriated” on various planets, which Jade thought was just as well; she much preferred weapons that had a kick to them, that let you know when you used them
