Chapter 17 Before Iris could move, her mother flipped all the warehouse lights on. The dusty concrete floor was covered with too many footprints to show which way Gena had gone, but Iris caught movement against the right wall. Near all those axes and saws. “You b***h!” Dale staggered toward the middle of the warehouse, clutching his bloody right hand to his chest. His rifle bounced uselessly on his back. “Gena!” Iris sprinted forward, aiming toward the flash of blonde hair darting behind the row of supplies. Dale turned toward Iris, face red and furious, trying to grab his rifle with his left hand. More blood poured from the fist still held against his body.
