32 After a moment, during which the murmur of the other diners faded into the background, blending in with the occasional clangs and raised voices from the kitchen, Shawn said, “You need to trust me.” Elisabeth waited for him to elaborate, but he stopped. She reflected on this. Trust. He said the answer was trust. And not just trust, but trust him. It was hard to breathe. Elisabeth took a breath, and another, and another, but her chest wouldn't hold the air.
