Chapter 29

2077 Words

ADRIAN Micah kept up a brisk, uneven gait, not smooth by any standards, but still fast enough that all his stumbling and tripping did not affect our speed, so it wasn’t really getting on my nerves as much as I would have expected. Before long, Kain who had keeping up a steady pace behind us, fell into step beside me. I glanced down at him with an arched brow. He returned the look with an arched brow of his own. “Was all the terrifying alpha posturing necessary? You didn’t have to be so scary to them.” He said in a low tone, wincing on behalf of Micah as he tripped over his own feet again for like the sixtieth time since we began this trek. “I wasn’t scary to them.” I hissed back, affronted despite myself. “The alpha posturing was necessary, I wasn’t sure where their loyalties lied.”
