The sky split with a violet flash as the barrier meant to protect the school disintegrated like ash in a storm. Runes blinked out. Wards snapped like threads. The stone spires of the eastern wall groaned and fell in a single, horrifying echo.
Aria watched it happen from the Watchtower.
She didn’t move.
Talia burst in seconds later, breathless. “Selene?”
Aria nodded. “She didn’t wait long.”
Kade appeared behind them, blood on his jaw from the earlier run-in with a cursed warg that had slipped through the now-unshielded border. “The veil between realms is thinning. I can feel it.”
