the days went by, Alice tried to push her doubts aside and focus on her upcoming wedding. She threw herself into the preparations, spending hours poring over magazines and meeting with vendors.

But no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't shake the feeling that something was off.

One night, Alice had a dream. In the dream, she was standing in a dark forest, surrounded by towering trees and deep shadows. In front of her stood Ethan, his face twisted with anger.

"I told you that you were mine," he snarled, grabbing Alice's arm and pulling her towards him. "You belong to me, and you always will."

Alice woke up with a start, her heart pounding in her chest. She knew that it was just a dream, but it felt so real.

The next day, Alice decided to talk to her best friend, Sarah. Sarah had always been a good listener, and Alice trusted her more than anyone.

Over coffee at a trendy café, Alice poured her heart out to Sarah. She told her about her doubts and fears, about how she wasn't sure if she was making the right decision in marrying Ethan.

Sarah listened patiently, nodding sympathetically as Alice spoke.

"I just don't know what to do," Alice said, tears welling up in her eyes.

Sarah reached across the table and took Alice's hand. "You have to do what's best for you," she said. "Don't let anyone else make that decision for you."

Alice knew that Sarah was right. She couldn't let Ethan or anyone else dictate her life. She had to take control of her destiny.

Later that night, Alice sat down and wrote a letter to Ethan. In the letter, she told him that she needed some time to think and that she wasn't sure if she was ready to get married yet.

It was one of the hardest things Alice had ever done, but she knew that it was the right decision.

The next day, Alice mailed the letter to Ethan and waited anxiously for his response. She knew that things between them would never be the same again, but she hoped that they could find a way to work things out.

Days turned into weeks, and still, Alice didn't hear from Ethan. She had no idea what he was thinking or feeling, and it left her feeling anxious and uncertain.

One day, Alice received a call from Ethan's assistant, asking her to come to his office for a meeting. Alice agreed, feeling both nervous and hopeful.

When she arrived at Ethan's office, she was ushered into a large conference room. Ethan was sitting at the head of the table, looking as handsome and commanding as ever.

"Hello, Alice," he said, his voice cool and controlled. "Thank you for coming."

Alice nodded, feeling a lump form in her throat. She didn't know what to expect, but she knew that she needed to be strong.

"I received your letter," Ethan said, leaning back in his chair. "And I have to say, I was surprised. I thought we had an understanding."

Alice swallowed hard, trying to keep her emotions in check. "I know," she said softly. "But I needed to take some time to think. I wasn't sure if I was ready to get married."

Ethan raised an eyebrow. "And are you ready now?"

Alice hesitated, unsure of how to answer. "I...I don't know," she said finally.

Ethan leaned forward, his eyes locking onto hers. "Alice, we made a vow to each other. We said that we would be bound together, no matter what. Are you going to break that vow?"

Alice felt a surge of anger within her. "You can't just expect me to marry you because we made a vow," she said, her voice rising. "I have to do what's best for me."

Ethan's expression hardened. "And what about me? What about what's best for us?"

Alice shook her head, feeling tears well up in her eyes. "I don't know, Ethan. I just don't know."

The meeting ended on a tense note, with both Alice and Ethan feeling frustrated and hurt. As Alice left the building, she knew that she had a difficult decision to make. She couldn't go through with the wedding if she wasn't sure, but she also didn't want to lose Ethan.

It was a tough situation, and Alice knew that there were no easy answers.
