PUNISHMENT IN HIS BEDROOM

CHAPTER 10: Punishment In His Bedroom The car ride home was silent. Deadly silent. Ethan didn't say a word after the dinner. His hands were tight on the steering wheel, his knuckles white. He was furious. At me? At Valentina? I didn't know. As soon as we entered the mansion, he slammed the door. "Why did you look so affected by what she said?" His voice was low, dangerous. "What?" "At the dinner! You looked like you believed her! Like you thought I was lying to you!" "Because you were!" I finally exploded, tears coming out. "You told people I was a womb you bought! That I was desperate! Do you know how humiliating that was? Everyone was laughing at me!" "I never told anyone that!" He grabbed my shoulders. "Valentina is lying! She is obsessed! She found the contract paper in my office the day before she left for New York!" "Then why didn't you defend me properly? You just kissed me like I was a thing to show off!" "Because I wanted her to shut up!" He pushed me gently against the wall, his body caging mine. "Because when she called you a charity case, I wanted to break her jaw. Because when she said you couldn't give me a child, all I could think about was proving her wrong. Tonight." My breath caught. "What do you mean... tonight?" His eyes dropped to my lips. His voice became a whisper. "The contract says you will give me an heir, Amara. We have been married for two months and I have not touched you. I have been a gentleman. But after tonight... I am done being a gentleman." "Ethan..." "Say my name again." "Ethan, please... not like this... not when you are angry..." He leaned in, his lips brushing my ear. "I'm not angry, wife. I'm jealous. Jealous that you let her words make you doubt me. And jealousy makes me possessive." He picked me up. I gasped as my legs wrapped around his waist by instinct. He carried me up the stairs toward his bedroom. Our bedroom. "You want to know what I really tell people about you?" he said as he kicked the bedroom door open. "I tell them you are the only woman who ever said no to me. And that makes me want you more than anything I have ever bought in my life." He laid me on the bed. And this time, there was no phone call to save me.
