Chapter 2: Lily Learns About Stephanie’s Affair

2082 Words
Lily’s POV. The door is slightly ajar, just enough for me to peek inside. What I see makes my breath catch in my throat. Stephanie and a man are on the bed, their clothes thrown around them. They’re not fully engaged in intimacy yet, but the way they touch and tease each other, the laughter that bubbles between them—it’s clear what they’re preparing for. My heart races, panic rising. “I shouldn’t be here,” I think desperately. I need to leave, to forget I ever saw this. I turn to go, my footsteps quick and silent, but before I can make it far, a voice stops me cold. “Don’t leave! Once you step out of this room, you will never know the whereabouts of your mother.” It’s Claire, her voice cutting through the air like a knife. I freeze, remembering why I’m here. Slowly, I turn to face Claire. “Then tell me, where is my mother?” I demand, trying to keep my voice steady. Claire smirks, her eyes gleaming with a twisted satisfaction. “Take pictures of everything you see, cut the crap, now!” She shoved a camera into my hand. Anger and helplessness churn within me, but I have no choice. “Fine,” I mutter, gripping the camera tightly. “I’ll do that.” I make my way back to the hallway, the camera feeling heavy in my hand. “Just wait,” I tell myself. “This is for Mom.” Claire took me to a dark room where I sat on a glass window at the front of the room, a window that gave me a clear view of the inside, without being able to see me from the outside. I sit in a chair and take out the camera. But I was unable to get into work, my mind fixed on one thought: “I have to know about my mother.” The minutes stretch on, each one an eternity. But I can wait. For her, I can endure anything. Just a few minutes later. “What are they talking about?” I wonder, the question gnawing at me. “Maybe they’ll mention my mother.” Slowly, I inch closer to the door, my heart pounding. I can hear their voices more clearly now. Stephanie and Alpha Rik are speaking in hushed tones, their words filled with a mix of intimacy and urgency. Stephanie’s voice is soft and seductive. “You know I missed you,” she says, her tone laced with desire. The man chuckles, his voice low and teasing. “Show me how much,” he replies. I can almost see the smirk on his face. Lily, focus. I should be taking a photo, but I can’t pull myself away. The way they talk, the way their words intertwine like lovers’ hands, it’s both captivating and repulsive. Stephanie’s laughter rings out, light and carefree. The man’s voice follows, deep and commanding, urging her closer. “Touch me here,” Stephanie whispers, her voice breathy. I shudder, trying to block out the images forming in my mind. The man’s voice grows more insistent. “You’re mine,” he says, the words punctuated by soft gasps from Stephanie. “Only yours,” she replies, her voice dripping with devotion. It’s clear they’re deeply engrossed in each other. Stephanie was cuddling with a strange man and they were almost naked. My hands shook the moment I picked up the camera. I’ve never even held hands with a man, let alone experienced s*x. I don't know exactly what Stephanie's purpose was in asking me to take a photo like this, but it's not surprising that some people have this particular fetish. Inside the room, Stephanie groaned as she craned her neck and leaned back slightly, her waterfall of dark hair pouring down her smooth spine as she twisted slightly, her thin waist swaying like water plants in a lake. The man's large hands rubbed the sides of her waist, then slowly wandered to her breasts, then abruptly grabbed one of them. Just imagining such a picture was enough to make me blush, and now that it was happening right in front of me, I felt my body filled with a kind of heat. The inside of my palms were already full of beads of sweat, and my fingers were trembling uncontrollably as I pressed the shutter. Stephanie has always been a proud member of the pack, and I know she has a fiancé. I finally realized why she had urged me to come by myself earlier. Stephanie’s hand trails down the man’s chest, her fingers dancing lightly. The man chuckles, pulling her closer, his lips brushing against her ear as he murmurs something that makes her giggle. The moaning between Stephanie and the man in the room was getting louder and louder. He had his back to me, and all I could see was Stephanie's increasingly flushed face. I bit my lip as I snapped several pictures in quick succession. What kind of man could make Stephanie go against the rules of the pack to sneak out to a private meeting with him? What kind of man could possibly be good enough for Stephanie? Laughter, murmurs, the rustle of sheets—it all feels surreal. Stephanie gripped the man's shoulders and bit gently, beads of sweat running down his back. He bit Stephanie's lips without haste as if he were savoring a tasty treat, Stephanie moaned with her mouth open, "Please, come on, I want you." "You just can't wait, huh? I wish I could show the people in your pack how prodigal their high and mighty Alpha's daughter is at the moment." As if deliberately playing a trick on her, the man nipped at her n****e, and Stephanie, trembling and limp, lunged to lick the man's earlobe again. "I'm more interested in showing the Starnight Pack how slutty their Alpha is. If the she-wolves saw you in bed, I think they'd all go crazy for you." Surprisingly, it's Starnight Pack's Alpha, Alpha Rik! I almost screamed. It is well known that Starnight Alpha Rik is the most notorious man within the entire wolf pack; he is a womanizer, he has slept with countless she-wolves. He is ruthless and eccentric, and no one dares to mess with him. How did Stephanie end up with a man like that? Isn't she about to marry Alpha Alaric? My disgust mingles with curiosity. “What else are they hiding?” I wonder, edging closer. Suddenly, I knock over a metal vase. I catch it before it hits the floor, but it still makes a sharp noise. “Who’s there?” Rik’s voice is sharp, filled with suspicion. My heart races. I hide behind a pillar, praying they don’t find me. “Relax, it’s probably just one of the cats,” Stephanie says lazily. “Come back to bed.” Rik doesn’t seem convinced. “I’m going to check,” he insists. The door creaks open, and I hold my breath, peeking around the pillar. “Seriously, Rik, it’s just the cats. They get restless at night,” Stephanie says, irritation creeping into her voice. “Come back to me.” Rik hesitates, but finally closes the door and returns to Stephanie. I let out a slow, shaky breath, relieved but still on edge. “That was close,” I think, my pulse gradually slowing. I inch closer again, determined to hear more. Their conversation takes a serious turn. “Tomorrow I’m going to cancel my engagement with Alaric,” Stephanie says, her voice focused and resolute. Rik sounds irritated. “Hasn’t the engagement been arranged by your father and their family? What reason will you give Alaric? Are you going to tell him you slept with another Alpha from a different wolf pack while you were engaged to him?” Stephanie’s voice remains calm. “I don’t love him,” she says simply. “If you love me, then marry Alaric. I’ll find a way for you to come back to me in the future. If not, when Alaric dies, you can come to my pack,” Rik replies, frustration evident in his tone. There’s a pause, and Stephanie’s next words hang heavy in the air. “I’m pregnant.” Rik’s laugh is harsh and disbelieving. “Don’t give me this crap. I can’t even count the women I’ve slept with. You marry Alaric obediently and help me get what I want.” Stephanie’s voice sharpens. “But, I have only slept with you,” she says, her words cutting through the tension. Rik’s irritation flares. “This is ridiculous. I have more important things to do,” he says, standing up. “Marry Alaric. It’s beneficial for both of us. Don’t mess this up.” I watch as Rik leaves the room, his steps heavy with frustration. Stephanie remains on the bed, her expression unreadable. “She’s in a mess,” I think, my mind racing with what I’ve just overheard. They seem so at ease, so lost in their own little world. It’s an affair, plain and simple. And I’m the unwilling witness. I retreat slightly, leaving the camera on the table and breathing a long sigh of relief. My mission is finally accomplished. Stephanie and Alpha Rik's business is not something that someone in my position could interfere with, and on the principle of less is more, I decide that I'd better get out of here. Minutes pass in tense silence. “What should I do?” I debate with myself. “Do I approach her now?” Just now, Alpha Rik dumped her. She must be in a bad mood right now, and she might take it out on me. I'm just a small servant, I don't want to get involved inside more wars. I wouldn't have gotten into this mess if it wasn't for trying to find my missing mother. Not only did I learn that she was sleeping with Alpha Rik while she had a fiancé, but I also helped her leave evidence behind. Is she going to use me for something? I won’t dare to think any further, I just want to get out of here fast. I move closer to the door, my curiosity overpowering my fear. “Just a quick peek,” I tell myself. I push the door open slightly and look inside. To my surprise, the room is empty. “Where did she go? Where?” My eyes dart around the room and land on a door leading outside. "I put my camera and film on the table." I yell toward Stephanie, who doesn't respond to me. Walking towards the door, I realize I had never noticed how big the West Hills Villa is. Outside has lush, pine trees. I walk along the cobblestone path that lay on the ground towards the front until the sound of a babbling brook catches my attention. This little lake was designed to be just right, right in the middle of a winding path, and Stephanie is sitting in it with her back to me, her figure silhouetting against the dim light. She’s staring into the water, lost in thought. I take a deep breath, trying to steady my nerves. “This is about Mom,” I remind myself. “I can’t back down now.” I step out of the road, my feet moving almost on their own. As I walk closer, my heart pounds with a mix of fear and hope. “This is it,” I think. “I might finally get some answers.” “You don't have to worry, I'll keep your secret. I didn't see anything, I just came to your room today to help you clean up,” I lied. “I just want to know where the hell my mom is.” She still hasn't responded to me. Each step echoes in my ears, louder than it actually is. The cool breeze hits my face, offering a momentary comfort. “Stephanie?” I greeted her, but she didn't answer. I don't know how long she’s been here. Having a beautiful woman waiting for you in a small lake deep in the pine forest is a beautiful sight, no doubt, but there's a weird feeling scratching at my heart like a kitten's paw. As I approach Stephanie, standing by the lake, I know that whatever happens next will change everything.
