Lydia's expression shifted so smoothly I almost missed it, the flash of rage replaced instantly by wounded confusion. When she spoke again, her voice trembled with what sounded like genuine hurt. "I don't understand what's happening here." She looked around at the assembled wolves, her eyes glistening with unshed tears. "Kai, baby, what have you told these people? What lies-" She caught herself, shaking her head. "No, I'm sorry. You're not lying. You're confused. You've been under so much stress lately."
