Chapter 28: First Day in Japan

Because of our one-month anniversary on 10th and his 27th birthday on 12th of December, Seaof asked me to go on a trip with him for three days in Japan. He also got permission from Papa Justin to take me away without any objections, I know that he agreed because he trust me but how could he easily trust a man to be with me for three nights??!

“I didn’t know you also have a private plane on your own.” arriving at the airport after a long drive from the campus

“My parents bought this plane for me when I’m travelling back and forth to Massachusetts and here in Yeongdo.” Seaof take off his seatbelt and get off from his car then open the car door for me “Haven’t I told you that I’m a senior in high school and freshman in college at the same time?”

“Is that even possible??” getting off from the car “You’re joking, right??” looking at his facial expression but he’s still serious “Oh, you’re telling the truth, but how did you manage attending two schools at the same time?!”

“I’m a high school student on weekdays and college student on weekends, thanks to the difference in time zone, I literally live at this plane for almost three months until I graduated in high school, I attended normal classes on the final period of the first semester.” walking towards the plane

“That’s quite hard to imagine, it’s impossible for me but with you I think I can believe that it’s possible, you’re smarter than an average person.”

“I’m not physically strong so I should at least be an intelligent person.” leading me to the staircase “Ladies first.”

“Thanks.” climbing up until I passed through the door that leads me to the interior of his private plane which is only good for ten passengers

“This is actually what a normal private plane looks like.” Seaof standing behind me “Don’t private plane can also be a commercial plane because of its passengers’ capacity but mine is exclusively for family use only.” helping me with my luggage “I used to sleep on that sofa.” pointing at the sofa on the left “Eat at this chair …” touched the chair on his right “… and study to this one.” touch the chair on his left “The bathroom is there where you can actually take a bath so it’s not just a toilet.” pointing at the room that I thought just an ordinary lavatory in a plane “And that’s the pantry.”

“Yeah, I think you can actually live here.” sits on the second row facing front

“Then I’ll sit, right next to you.” he does as he says “I’ll join you when we’re stable in the air.”

“Sir, ma’am, we’re about to take off please put on your seatbelts.” flight attendant giving us a safety reminder before she takes her seat

“You haven’t told me yet why we’re going to Japan?” putting my seatbelt “I know you want us to go on a trip together but I never thought it’ll be out of the country instead of simply out of town.”

“Simply because I don’t want anyone to disturb our time together.” he smiles at me as the plane starts to move

After a few minutes, we’re way up high and I can see the lights of the whole province while looking down through the window. The night sky is way much better for me as I can clearly see the stars if not’s too cloudy.

Seaof sit across me as we had our dinner, I told him that I feel like eating sausage so he had Sausage Pinwheels served as my meal. I know he’s doing his best to be a perfect boyfriend for me but he really is giving and doing anything that I want.

“Hmm … we’re here already?” woke up from the noise of plane landing on the ground “We have the same time zone with Japan, right?” stretching my arms and legs “I never thought I’ll be here in Osaka.” looking at the view outside

“You should sleep more; I can carry you to the car later.” he replied “It’s almost midnight.”

We landed off safely at the airport, after going through the immigration and had our passports stamped on as a proof of our arrival in Japan, we went to the parking area where the chauffeur waited for our arrival. It took two hours car ride to the inn from the airport and I’m too sleepy to enjoy the view, I woke up with my head on Seaof’s shoulder as we finally arrived on our accommodation.

“It’s already 3am, as much as I want to see the sunrise later, I don’t think I’ll be wide awake.” holding Seaof’s hand as we walk at the corridor towards our room “Wait, we’re sharing one room??!” saw two mattresses lying on the floor when the innkeeper open our room

“Why? You don’t trust me?” giving me a serious look “Nothing will happen indecent between us … don’t worry I won’t do anything improper to you without your permission … I also promised it to you Justin that I’ll wait for you to graduate.”

“Sorry, it’s just that I didn’t expect we’re sharing a room.” (Papa Justin won’t give him permission if he knows that Seaof has an indecent motive.)

“Arigatou gosaimasu!” we bowed to the innkeeper after she explained about our room service and the meal schedule before she left our room

“Which side is your bed?” he letting me choose first before he lay down himself to sleep

“Near the balcony.”  taking out my stuffs from my luggage “You’re not going to get change before you sleep?” notice him lying on his mattress

“Nah … I’ll do it later; I’m going to sleep now.” took off his coat and tucked himself in his blanket

Seaof is really a man of his words, we haven’t kiss yet for the month that we’ve been together, it’s like we’re good with holding hands and embracing each other sometime. I’m well aware that I’m dating someone who had a lot of experiences with hundreds of girls and he’s just holding back because I’m all new to this. His abstinence never failed to amaze me all the time that he never takes advantage of me.

“Morning.” Seaof greeted me the moment I open my eyes and my head is on his lap “Now I know why your bed is a mess in the morning.”

“!!!” sit up immediately “Sorry!” fixing my hair as I figured out that I rotated while sleeping “You should’ve wake me up instead of letting me sleep.”

“I tried to call your name but you didn’t wake up so I just let you be.” he gets up from his bed “What time did you sleep??” walking to the bathroom

“Around 4am maybe.” get up too and walk to the balcony “Wow, what a wonderful view!” suddenly feel the cold breeze of Osaka in December after standing outside for a few minutes wearing only my pajamas “Achoo!”

“Do you want to get sick?” he put a coat on me and hug me from behind “Thank you for fixing my things for me, you should’ve just let me do it.”

“I want to do something for you too.” (I even saw all his underwear when I arranged his clothes at the closet that we share.) smiling at him

“Shall we eat first? It’s almost 12 noon and we already missed breakfast.” resting his chin on my shoulder

“That’s why my stomach feel empty.” holding on to my belly “I’ll go wash my face first.” tapping his arms to let me go

“Alright, I’ll wait for you.” stay behind at the balcony to look at the view while I go to the bathroom

“He even put our toothbrush facing together.” chuckles as I open the faucet to wash my face with the lukewarm water

I put his coat on over my pajamas when we got out from our room and went to the dining hall to have our lunch. We had meat dish and soup that filled our empty stomach, before we go back to our room and prepare to roam around the area.

“I’ve got no objection with your top, but do you really have to wear shorts??” he’s inspecting my attire before we go out from room

“But I’m wearing black stockings and boots.” recalling my boots at the shoe rack near the front door of the inn “It won’t expose my legs too much.”

“If only I have international license to drive, I should’ve rented a car instead of commuting.” handing me my coat

“It’s alright, it’s not that hard to be ordinary.” putting my coat on “Let’s go.” holding his hand automatically “Where are we going anyway?”

“Here, tell me where you want to go.” handing me a plan map highlighting the attractions in Osaka before he talks to the receptionist to call a cab

“Wow, this is too detailed for a date plan.” looking at the map of Osaka “How about Amusement Park until it closed??”

“Sure.” embracing me with his arm while I’m still looking at the map “Based from the distance of our inn to the amusement park it’ll take an hour to get there, do you like going to amusement park??”

“Yes, if only I can go to amusement park once a year then I’ll do so but I’m not that rich and I don’t have much time for fun.” folding the map carefully

“If that’s the case then, do you want to go to amusement park with me every year? Or once a month we can do that.” caressing my hair

“I know you’re a rich man but monthly is too much, besides I don’t think I have plenty time for fun, I’m in college, remember?” looking at him

“So, what if you’re in college? It doesn’t mean that you should deprive of yourself from having fun.” pinching my nose

“Ayy …” he’s treating me like a kid again “You’re making my nose red.”

“It’s almost red before I pinch it.” laughing at me “Oh, here’s our ride.” the cab stopped in front of us “Get in.” open the car door for me

“Oh, did I really caught a cold??” moving at the other for him to sit beside me “I should take a look in the mirror.” taking out the mirror from my bag

“Where are we heading sir?” cab driver talking in Japanese with Seaof

“To Osaka Amusement Park, please.” Seaof replied in Japanese “What are you looking at in the mirror??” speaking Korean to me

“My pretty face.” putting the mirror back to my bag “Why? Why are you looking at me like that??”

“I thought you don’t know you’re beautiful but you just said it out loud that you have a pretty face.” smiling at me

“To be honest I know what I look like but I’m trying to be humble.” clinging onto his arm

“Geez.” he put my head on his shoulder “Take a nap, I’ll wake you up when we get there.”

“How do you know that I want to take a nap??” looking at his face closely (He really is handsome up close.)

“Because you sleep a lot, so go ahead and close your eyes.” covering my eyes with his hand “You’re tempting me to kiss you if you look at me like that.”

We arrived at the amusement park after an hour and a quarter. Because it’s a Saturday a lot of people also chose to spend their weekend at the park, causing a long queue that took us half an hour to finally admitted inside.

“What do you want to ride first?” holding my hand while looking at me “Or do you want to have a snack before we play?”

“Now that you mentioned it, I think we should eat first to have energy until evening.” looking around to find a food stall “How about crepe?”

“No problem.” walking towards the crepe stall that caught my attention and had me fall in line first while he stood behind me “What flavor do you want? There’s strawberry, banana, mango, peach, melon, chocolate, and caramel flavor.” reading the menu while resting his chin on top of my head

“Chocolate for me but you try the strawberry flavor, we could share later.” holding his hands on my shoulders “What about drinks??”

“They have milkshakes and smoothies, which one would you like to have?” moving forward as the line moves

“Uhm … milkshake, yeah I think it complements the taste of the crepe better.” staring ahead

“Mango smoothie for me, is it alright?” pulling me closer to him that I could even hear his heart beating

“Uh-huh.” trying to act normal but he’s really making me blush because of his demeanor

“Wow, look at that strawberry crepe!” looking at the kid who’s eating his crepe “I can’t wait to have mine!”

“Where almost there, you should go first.” moved to his side to save my heart from beating like crazy (Am I really falling in love with this man??)

Maybe because I never been into dating that’s why I everything he does makes me feel special. I thought I could just treat him like my male best friends only that we’re holding hands and cuddling each other, but he really is different among them.

“Baby, you alright?” waving his hand on my face “You’ve been staring at space for a while now, what are you thinking about??”

“Huh??!” snapped back to reality “Ah, why don’t we ride the carousel first? Then roller coaster and lastly the Ferris wheel.”

“Ah so you’re thinking about the sequence of rides.” he nodded with a smile “I thought you’re thinking of something serious.”

“Not at all, let’s go, we have to fall in line, I hope it’s not that long.” holding his hand naturally

“Can we skip the roller coaster and go straight to the Ferris wheel instead?” walking beside me as he holds my hand tightly

“Nah-uh, roller coaster is a must whenever you go to amusement park, we can’t skip … wait, are you afraid on extreme rides??” laughing at him

“No! It’s just that I don’t think it’s safe.” looking away to deny his weakness “Let’s go for other rides than roller coaster.”

“Let me think about it, after our carousel ride.” falling in line for the carousel “We just ate crepe and had drinks so let’s start with the gentle ride.”

“Mmm … weekend isn’t really an ideal time to go to amusement park because of long lines.” standing behind me “I should’ve reserved this place for us.”

“That’ll cost you a lot of money, besides you didn’t know that I’m going to choose this place among the other attractions on the map.” looking at him

“Money isn’t the problem for me, what I’m after is the time we’re wasting in queueing, we could’ve had ride and play everything here.” he replied

“Alright, rich man if you don’t have anything to do with your money, just give it to me.” throwing a joke at him “!!!” he handed me his wallet immediately

“Take this for now, I’ll transfer the rest to your bank account when we go back to Korea.” he turned me around to move forward

“I’m just joking, why are you being so serious all of a sudden??!” walking forward and turn around to him again when the line stops to move “You keep it.” giving back his wallet to him “Can’t you tell when I’m serious or not??”

“But I’m serious to give you everything you want.” caressing my face with his right hand

“I don’t think I can tell a joke to you if you’re always taking my words seriously.” putting his wallet inside his coat “I’m not a gold digger.”

“I know, but I’m willing to spend all my money on you.” pulling me closer for a hug “Let’s stay like this while waiting for the line to move again.”

“Aren’t we displaying affection on public?” pushing him back gently “We can’t be like this at this moment.”

“We’re only hugging each other, we’re not doing anything else, besides they don’t know who we are so there’s nothing to worry about.” he put my arms around his body “I told you, the only thing I want from you is your love.”

“Fine.” closing my eyes as I rest my head on his chest “I can feel everyone looking at us.”

“So what? My girlfriend is giving me love right now and I’m happy about it I don’t care about anybody else.” hugging me tightly

“You’re getting bold because we’re on a foreign land and nobody knows us here.” looked up to him which I regretted immediately

I’m too focused with his face as he stares back at me like we’re the only people in the world at that time. The next thing I know is our lips are about to touch each other when suddenly the man behind him tap his shoulder and we both pulled away from one another.

“!!!” I turned around immediately and move forward until I step on the platform to ride the carousel

“I really should’ve rented this place.” he said in an upset tone as he put his hands on my shoulders

“I’m riding that horse.” walking fast towards my chosen ride “You should get in too.” hopping in

“…” he still looks upset because of what happened that he can’t even smile a bit while getting in to his horse beside mine

I reached my hand to him to cheer him up and when he took my hand to hold, he finally smiled. I don’t even know what happened to me that I had my guard down and didn’t do anything when we’re about to kiss.

“You said you’re going to think about my proposition of having other ride than roller coaster.” pulling his hand towards the line for roller coaster

“Yes, and this is my decision, we’re going to ride it.” teasing him more because I know he can’t go for fast rides

“Can I just wait for you at the exit?” still hesitating to go even though it’s our turn next “I’ll watch you from below.”

“Hahaha, fine, you may go.” let go of his hand “I’ll see you later.” facing forward and the man in front of me look back to talk to me “I’m sorry I’m not fluent in Japanese, do you speak English??”

“Partner.” Japanese guy speaks in English while pointing at his two friends who’s doing a sign language to me indicating they’re partner “No partner.”

“Ah, you want me to be your partner because you don’t have one?” about to step up to be his partner but then Seaof grabbed my hand

“I’m her partner, go find someone else.” speaking in Japanese to the guy as he holds my hand tightly

“Why did you come back? I thought you’ll wait for me at the exit??” looking at Seaof who seems to be disappointed

“I rather die than let other man sit next to you.” embrace me with his arm when the Japanese guy still looking back at me

“So, jealousy makes you brave, huh?” trying not to laugh at him “Don’t worry it’s not your time to die yet.”

“Take responsibility of me after this.” he really looks scared but he’s trying to put up a brave face

“Sure.” getting excited to as the line move forward “Finally, our turn!” almost running towards our seats

“I’m only doing this because I love you.” sit right next to me “You’re making me do things I thought I can never do.”

“I know, thank you!” holding his hand “You can shout it helps!” looking at his scared face when the ride starts to move

Everyone’s shouting with every twist and turns specially when we turned upside down with the change of speed. And as expected of him he threw up after our ride but he held it in until he arrived at the men’s room for him not to lose face to other men who rode with us.

“You alright, baby?” handing him a bottled water “I also bought mint candy, you may dissolve it in the water to make it a mouthwash.”

“Good idea.” doing exactly what I told him “Thanks.” shaking the bottle to dissolve the candy faster “It’s getting dark now.” looking up at the sky

“Yeah, and we still have one more ride that we shouldn’t miss.” pointing at the Ferris wheel

“Of course, let me gargle first.” gargling the improvised mouthwash until it’s empty “I’m done, can I have one more mint candy?”

“Here.” giving him another one “Aren’t you thirsty?” handing him my water “I already drank half of it but it can still replenish your thirst.”

“Thanks, I’ll drink it after I’m done with the candy in my mouth.” took the bottle from my hand “Let’s go to the Ferris wheel.” holding my hand tightly

“By the way the park closes at 7pm, we can still play after the ride.” walking beside him

“Alright.” leading me towards the line to the Ferris Wheel “Then let’s have dinner somewhere nearby.”

“Sure thing.” smiling at him as we walk to our destination “You’re alright with heights, right? Fast ride is only your problem.”

“Yes. I know it’s not manly of me but you already found out one of my weaknesses so there’s no point of hiding the truth from you.” he said

“You’re right, it’s too obvious.” nodding “I think Ferris Wheel is famous for lovers.” notice the line is full of couples

“Aren’t you jealous of those two?” pointing at the couple who’s kissing while in line without any care at their surrounding

“That’s the real public display of affection.” watching the lovers like everyone else “How can they do that in public? It’s not like they’re filming a romantic movie right now but they’re too immense in their own world.”

“I guess that’s a no.” he said in a soft voice “What are we going to play after this ride?” changing the topic instead to conceal his dismay

“Uhm … I saw a shooting game and fishing game earlier, oh, there’s also for archery with huge stuffed toys as prizes, if only Hammond is here, he could get me those prizes because he always hit the target accurately with his arrows.”

“I’m the one with you right now, please don’t mention other man’s name.” patting my head “I can get it for you.”

“Well let’s see about that later.” moving forward at the line to the Ferris wheel

We enjoyed the view up high while having a conversation with anything that comes to our mind. After the Ferris Wheel ride, we went to try the games hoping to win some prizes in case we succeed but none of them worked for us.

“How much is that large teddy bear?!” Seaof decided to buy the prize instead after failing to get it for me for three times

“No, I don’t want that.” pulling him away from the stall “I won’t accept it if you buy it for me instead of claiming it as a prize.”

“Then let me try another one.” going back to play the game again

“That’s enough, let’s just go, alright?” pulling him back “It’s fine really, why don’t you sing me a song instead?” pointing at the stage

“Huh??” looking around “But there’s a lot of people watching, I can’t go to that stage.”

“But you’re a better singer than him, though I can’t understand the lyrics of the song and I just know that he’s out of tune because of the music.”

“That’s the reason I don’t want to go to that stage, I don’t like being criticize.” trying to runaway

“Let’s have a deal, if you sing on that stage and make everyone applause you … I’ll grant you a wish.” encouraging him not to be shy

“What kind of wish are we talking about here?” he looks interested with my proposition

“Anything that you want as long as I can give or do it for you.” convincing him to overcome his fear

“Deal. I’m not confident that everyone will applaud but I’ll try my best to get that wish from you.” going to the booth to select a song

“I think he’s not that shy at all.” taking a seat at the last row “Was he pretending from the start??”

After the Japanese guy finished his song, Seaof went up at the stage and took the microphone. He selected an English song that suited to his voice, everyone knows the song and they even sang along with him like we’re in a concert. When the song ended, they all shouted for an encore as they applauded with happiness. His voice could bring healing to people who listen to it, the reason why I’m tearing up again after his performance.

“Why are you crying?” Seaof give me a warm hug the moment he came to me “I chose that song for the sake of everyone’s happiness.”

“I know, even I don’t understand why am I crying right now.” trying to calm myself down “I’m so proud of you.”

“Geez, stop crying alright?” wiping my tears “It’s the second time I see you crying.”

“Let me hide for a moment until I stop.” hiding myself at his coat “I can’t believe I’m being emotional because of your singing voice.”

“It’s alright, I understand.” hugging me tight “Go ahead and cry all you want.”

“No, I need to stop, I’m embarrassing myself right now.” wiping my tears with his handkerchief that he gave to me

“Are you calm down now?” looking at me worriedly as he rubs my shoulders with his gentle hands

“I guess so.” sniffing “I think I want something western for dinner because you sang an English song.”

“Then let’s find a Western restaurant.” holding my hand “Let’s go.”

“I suddenly crave for Obatzer, would there be a restaurant here that serve that dish?” touching my belly

“That’s very specific, don’t worry I’ll find it for you.” smiling at me as we walk towards the exit gate of the amusement park

When we got out, he made a call at the phone booth and after that he hailed a taxi that took us to a restaurant that serves the dish I’m craving for. He told me that he called a friend who knows everything about western restaurants in Osaka. After dinner, we go back to the inn to rest and prepare for another activity tomorrow, that he had me choose again from the map that he showed me earlier.

“Ah, by the way, what’s your wish?” about to lay myself down in bed when I suddenly remember our deal

“I’ll think about it, I’ll tell it to you when I decided how to make use of that wish.” tucking himself in “I only have one so I should use it wisely.”

“Alright then, as long as I can give or do it for you then your wish is my command.” looking at him as I lay down in bed “Good night.”
