12. What are We?

1201 Words
Rick's POV After I went inside, I knew that she must have left. I didn't want to behave like that with her, but it was necessary.  When she came inside and we came close, I saw a phone whose camera was facing us. Instantly I realized what was going on. It was Cindy's phone. Now, everything was clear to me. It's all done by her. Cindy stole my clothes, gave them to Sophia, and somehow sent Sophia to me in the boy's locker room. I knew she did all that on purpose to ruin Sophia's reputation. Obviously, no one will blame me for having a girl in the boy's locker room, but people will immediately start to corner Sophia. That's the society we live in. Where the punishment of someone's else deeds is given to someone else.  On the other side, I didn't call Sophia to the locker room but, that fact would be irrelevant if others found this out. I could move out smoothly out of this case as I had not done anything but that's not the same for Sophia. Cindy had done it all and because of it, Sophia would pay.  But for now, everything has stopped. It was seriously necessary for me to teach her a lesson. As I got ready and went outside, I heard a deep and harsh voice.  It was Professor Richard and was addressing Sophia and Cindy.  "What is going on here?" He asked both of them and they stood frozen in front of him. The whole college knew how strict Professor Richard is.  Sophia and Cindy stood in front of him without uttering a single word. Mr. Richard stepped forward and said in his strict tone, "Answer me, girls. I don't like to repeat." "Sir, I was just passing by. But I have seen her coming from the boy's locker room."  I wished to confront Cindy then and there. Since she was in front of the Professor, it would be easy to prove her guilty.  But then, I stopped. Why did I feel that it was important to prove Cindy guilty? Why did I felt that I have to support Sophia?  I guessed that due to humanity. I was in deep thoughts when Professor's voice reached my ears again. "Answer me, Sophia, why you went to the boy's locker room?" Sophia just stood there, not uttering a single word out of her mouth. Speak up damn it! Tell him the truth. Tell him that Cindy tricked you. She stood silent and watching her like that, a smug smile appeared on Cindy's face. "Sir, I saw her with a guy. Maybe they both were" "Shut up Cindy! I didn't ask you to speak. And you, Sophia, answer me."  Mr. Richard was getting furious minute by minute and Sophia was just quiet. Why are you standing quiet? Answer him stupid.    "Sir, actually I went to...to give a..." She was lost at words. Stepping forward, I completed her sentence. "-a package." Everyone's eye turned towards me. Taking a deep breath, I stepped forward. "She came to me to give me a package." "What was it?"  I just knew that Professor Richard will not let this matter go easily. So, I had already prepared the lies to give to Professor and the threats to give to Cindy. "Sir, the package was from my mom. As my birthday gift. I can show you if you want." He looked at me and then at Sophia. "Alright, but Sophia, from next time, don't enter the boy's locker room unless and until it is an emergency." He nodded at us and was about to live when Cindy intervened. "Sir, that's not the case. She had his clothes in her hands when she entered the locker room." My determination to teach her a lesson became stronger. "Yes Sir, as I said it was my birthday gift. And as a gift, mom sends me some clothes." I saw Cindy gritting her teeth, while Professor Richard nodded his head again and walked away. We three stood there. I was glaring at Cindy and her gang. Stepping forward, I raised my index finger at her and threatened her. "This is the last time I am tolerating your shitty behavior. If something like this happened again, I won't show mercy on you." With that, I snatched her phone and opened the videos. There was the whole recording of my and Sophia's moment. I deleted that immediately and knowing her, I went to the file manager.  Searching different folders, I found a copy of the video as well. I deleted that too. I glared at her again and then asked her two friends or bitches to give their phones also. "Give me your phone, otherwise you both will be in trouble." Both of them immediately forwarded their phones. Checking it, I deleted the video again. I knew Cindy. She would have immediately shared the video with her close friends. And these two were very close. I was more glad that she didn't get time to share the video on the college website. Thanks to Professor Richard.  Now, she won't have the video to share. I gave them their phones back after rechecking the device. "Now, you three can go. And it will be better for you guys to stay away from me and my matter. Leave. Now." Cindy glared at me and walked towards Sophia. She gave her evil smile to Sophia and said, "It was nice meeting you. Hope to see you again." She then looked at me and walked away.  "Try to stay away from her as much as you could," I said to Sophia as she was busy watching Cindy's back.  "Why? If I want to meet her in the future, I will meet her." She said that so easily and sounded like it was my fault that Cindy played a game with her. I grabbed her by her shoulder and pushed her against the wall. "I said you will not meet her, then you will NOT meet her. She isn't good and you, stay away from her." "How can you just order me around? You are not my father, brother, or Dean, or Professor of this college. Why should I listen to you?" She yelled at me. Honestly, I didn't understand that. "I helped you to get you out of the situation and instead of thanking me, you are arguing with me? What's wrong with your brain?" I said while gritting my teeth. She can't just disrespect me. "Well, thanks to you for the problem and solution. Happy? And, I am an individual and will do whatever I think is right." "You have to listen to me, alright. Don't make it a big deal. Stay away from her and stay in touch with me." "Why? What are we?"  I didn't realize what I said. Asking her to stay away from Cindy was fine but asking her to stay in touch with Me. I couldn't understand this myself, so neither I had expected her to understand.  "Just do as I say. It's in your own good."  With that, I left her there. I, myself need to make my statement clear to Me.
