Jacob stood at the doorway to Kat’s room in St. Louis. “You ready?”
“Is anyone ever ready for something like this?”
He shrugged. “Probably not, but everything you asked for is set up.”
“Thanks. Let’s go.” She grabbed her notes, along with a stack of applications she’d printed out, and headed down the hallway. “Do we have pens?”
“Layla’s bringing some.”
“I’m glad someone can remember everything.” Kat breathed relief. “I certainly can’t.”
“It’ll be fine.”
Cyrille quickly joined them. “Zee notice for zee tryouts was sent to all zee safe houses, no?”
Jacob nodded. “Yeah, but I’m not sure how many will come on such short notice.”
“Zee fighters will jump at zee chance. You saw zhem at zee Games. Zhey are always looking for a challenge.”
