“Everyone still with me?” Kat asked.
They’d taken a break for lunch and now headed to the coliseum, where an obstacle course had been set up, with the help and creativity of the other council members.
Some items had been borrowed from the Games, and some were…new.
Kat stared at the course and turned to Jacob. Don’t you think this is a bit much?
The energy shifter smiled. Do you want the best of the best?
Yeah, but I don’t want anyone killing themselves.
I’m right here if anybody needs medical treatment.
Alrighty then, she said and plunged ahead.
“We have a lot of candidates, so we’re going to put you through the course five at a time. Be on guard for anything…unexpected.”
The candidates looked at each other, wary.
