34 Shane took a deep breath and flung open the door, surprised to see a sweaty, dirty child with bright green hair on his doorstep, wielding a skateboard and a leather wallet. He squinted at the waif, then stuck his head out of the open doorway, looking for any signs of a parent or an adult. Frankie began to bark. Intruder, intruder! Shane pushed him back. “No, it’s okay. It’s just…Aislinn? You’ve grown a bit.” She shoved the worn wallet at him. Shane squinted at it. It was his wallet. He took it and rifled through it. Everything was in there, except his driver’s license and a fraction of his cash from the other night. He hadn’t canceled his credit cards yet. They were almost full anyhow.
