After a hearty breakfast at Jacob’s farmhouse, Kat found the backup she needed—in Kang and Deirdre’s counseling room.
The mentalist looked at her with concern. “Chest pains again?”
“Same spot as before. Jacob said trauma caused it and is growing.” Kat thought back to the last time she was here. “Didn’t you say that was connected to losing my brother?”
“Yes. Your separation from Hugh could be exacerbating it.”
“Jacob said something Hugh is going through is coming through the Bond as well.”
“It’s normal between mates,” Deirdre reassured her. “Both Kang and I have experienced it with ours.”
“The Bond between the two of you is stronger than most,” Kang noted. “Due to high compatibility and the circumstances under which it was formed.”
